Amazing Oven Design "LiftMatic" from Siemens

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

I like the concept of the oven. It would make life easier with someone who has back problems. No more bending and picking up a pan. In addition you can just remove it and let cool on the counter. Great idea!!

What a totally cool idea! Glad to see there's still some real innovation out there in the appliance industry. The nice thing about an oven like this too is that it doesn't consume any counter space....well, except for the short time you lower it to place the food in it!

Also when you "open the door", because heat rises, the oven only looses 15 degrees C at most.

Siemens actually do some really nice appliances though.

As I'm sure you might know Siemens and Bosch have a joint venture appliance manufactuer, BSH - Bosch Und Siemens Hausgerate GMBH.

It seems that Siemens badged products are marketed as being more high end though.

They also do:
Gaggenau (very high end built-in stuff mostly)
NEFF (similar - high end built in)
Thermador (US brand)
Constructa (German brand)
Viva
and ufesa (Spanish small appliance maker)

75.4% of all of their sales are in Western Europe though.
Despite Bosch in the USA, only 6.6% of their sales go to North America.

Sales : €7.34 Billion / Year (US$ 9.36 billion)
35,500 employees.

Not as huge as Electrolux or Whirlpool, but still an enormous company.

So 50s, yet so 2000's

First of all, you can't help but fall in love with the name "LiftMatic". Anything with "o-matic" or "matic" in the name is ok by me.

Now I wonder how much can it lift. Can it hoist a big 18lb turkey?

The good thing is with it opening from the bottom, not much heat escapes as with opening a traditional oven where you get a face full of heat and steam as soon as you open the door.

The next question is... how many 1000s of dollars is this gonna cost.
