Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

The videos that you have posted of your machine on YT have me almost convinced to go back to a TL machine while I still have the chance.

I'm sure glad I bought one---even if it isn't my daily driver. It really is the only choice for those wanting a classic, traditional top-loader. Since my SQ gets "driven only to church on Sundays" use, it should still be in great shape when a future collector comes across it.

While I'm very fond of modern front-loaders, I can't say I'm impressed with, as Consumer Reports calls them, "unconventional" top-loaders.[this post was last edited: 2/7/2014-18:33]

"while I still have the chance"

I think Alliance recently said they're committed to TLs at least until 2018. Someone please correct if wrong.

Malcom and Frig

I am always glad to know my vids have a positive influence or at the least, the ability to show "the other side" given the current trend towards eco everything.

I wrote reviews on Amazon and Epinions. In fact my review of the SQ on Epinions alone has earned me nearly 10 bucks in royalties!

I help out on SQ facebook page when I can when people have questions or concerns. I try to offer advice based on lots of research as well as real world experience. Just like many do on this forum.

Whether or not anyone buys a SQ is neither here nor there. What I hoped to accomplish was another perspective, perhaps a forgotten one, on what doing laundry USED to be like before the eco nazis ruined it.

What puzzles me is why SQ doesn't seem to have any kind of marketing plan or advertising to mention. I suppose word of mouth is sufficient to keep the assembly lines humming in Ripon? Or maybe they are content to fly UTR so to speak so as not to draw too much attention from DOE? Or perhaps they have to maintain sales under a certain number so as not to get hassled by the DOE? I'm only guessing here. It really puzzles me.

Still, I long for the days of pre-merger and junk bond financed buyouts when machines really were unique in design and function from each manufacturer. When it was a real horse race with regard to quality and features as opposed to re-badged crap that is so common today.

When detergent worked, thanks to phosphates, and enough water was used to really clean things as opposed to a Catholic baptismal process.

Well enough wishing, time to face reality and take my nightly dose of Metamucil before retiring.

But I can dream................

"...before the eco-nazis..." I heard that.

"...pre-merger and junk bond financed buyouts...rebadged crap..." I heard THAT.

"...nightly dose of metamucil..." Replace that with diphenhydramine syrup, and we're the same person.

"What puzzles me is why SQ doesn't seem to have any kind of marketing plan or advertising to mention."

The major bulk of Alliance's worldwide sales (something like 80 or 90%) are commercial not residential. They don't advertise to the general public because that's not their target market. So fortunately they've been spared the horrors of coming up with endless marketing gimmicks for their W/Ds. The current design hasn't changed in many years, over a decade now I think.

You're right jeffg

I brain farted and completely overlooked where their bread is buttered!

Oooops!

Does anyone here happen to have a SQ commercial washer or dryer in their home that they use? I remember a commercial washer/dryer pair on CL not long ago not too far from me.

Speed Queens.....

I have just ordered two SQ front loaders for an apartment block I manage. To replace two old wotkhorses, The owners did have a 10 yr old top load 7kg Maytag top loader and a 14 yr old SQ front loader. Both had noisy bearings and failing seals. These machines ran non stop with virtually no service calls. The machines are run on cold washes only. No hot water in the laundries.

I have to go sign off on the installation on Monday. Can't wai to see the new beauties installed.

Speed Queen

I thought I had read on the web that Alliance is planning to begin market the Speed Queen Line better to the home consumer. After recognizing the unexpected consumer demand for quality.
