I came across the American Faves website the other day which is a fairly new site which mails US products worldwide.

Needless to say, I mailed the administrator to ask him if he could stock Kellogs Fruit Loops (yes! added to `cereals'!) and US detergents. He has added some Gain and some Bounce, but won't add anything liquid incase it damages during transit. No Downy or Snuggle for me then :-(

The only other way I think non US residents can get US products is from a supermarket called Gristedes (or something) of New York, but the shipping seems expensive.

It's a great site though - American Faves - I wonder if any other UK members will be tempted to order from it?

Fruit Loops!

oh how i love them! Even more than my usual Cinnamon Golden Grahams and crunchy nut clusters! Nick not so many posts! My poor mobile cant keep up. LOL Still no computer! I have a soft spot for Oreo cookies too. Im starving now thinkin of fruit loops, not long eaten a pork chop, mash and veg. and that rather rude pudding. LOL what a greedy git? Nick.

french holidays

as a child i spent many holidays in spain and france. And i always remember mum buying Fruit Loops over there. We used to go camping you see, so fully self catering. Unless we came across a good cheap restaurant. What i call i cheap restaurant is different to what my folks call it. But they never had much disposable income. So breakfast meant fruit loops, bread and jam and plenty of tea. I love Frejus, where we often went, for its harbour.

Oh my....

You can get froot loops on France? I'm going over at Christmas. I never knew that! I will buy 10 boxes!!

Thanks Nick.

Am currently deciding which French detergents to get. Minidou (Vernel) FS - the peach one has lots of fans. Soupline (Suavitel) Grand Air (Blue classic) Lavande des Collines and Vanille et Orchidee. When I last used the Vanilla one in London I remember a woman looking at me suspiciously when she came to visit, saying `how do you get your laundry to smell like that, I've smelled nothing like it in my life' (in a good way)

Will probably get some other Henkel products - Wip Express (??) oh no, that's Greece, Mir Express in France, Xtra Force Bleu and Super Croix.

Wow, froot loops in France. Howcome not for us? Yes, I know they're rubbish I just love 'em.

me too Jon

i loved them too! Oh how i love cereals. Healthy ones and not so healthy ones. Those tasty lil bits of marsh mallow. Somebody stop tantalizing my stomach juices!

American Faves just added quite few varieties of Tide powder (for anyone who's interested) to their stock.......remember, these guys will ship worldwide....

Maybe we should do a grocery exchange program. I'd love to have some Daz, Comfort, etc. in trade for some Lucky Charms, Froot Loops, etc. When Mike visited here in June of '05, he sent a huge box of UK detergent products and the caps of the liquid bottles were simply taped up and padded in the box, everthing came through perfectly so Downy is available too ;-)

Could work well, without the profits involved in the online stores!

That's a great idea Greg, I for one would be pleased to be a part of this.

If you'd like me to mail out some Daz and Comfort to you, that's no problem. Maybe there are other products you would like, too.

Regards,

Nick

I was going to check out

Russell Stovers Sugar free toffee as I hate sugary foods although my latest cereal stock is sugar laden. And i can eat chocolate by the bucket load but when it comes to fudge and toffee its too sweet. But I saw to my surprise that work sell it. New line and all that. So i can now enjoy some. On the sweet theme I dont take sugar or sweetener in Coffee or Tea, but I wonder for those who also dont, Can you tell when someones made you a hot drink and used the same spoon to stir sugar into another and used the same spoon to stir yours after? I can for some reason. Makes me wretch! Thought for the day Lol. Nick.

Other products...

Years ago, when I worked at a very small location for Norwest/Wells Fargo bank, one of our personal bankers was from the UK and after a visit home, brought in a bag of salt & vinegar potato chips. They were one of the best chips I'd ever tasted, fairly light on the vinegar and salt, whereas our approximations here in the states are much heavier flavored. Can't think of the brand of chips she had though...

I'm game if you guys are - let's do some shopping and compare prices, exchange rates, etc. and we'll strike a 'cross-pond trade'!

Sugar Laden. . . .

is he wanted for Cereal Killing? Sorry could not resist the gag. LOL. Tayto although not great producers here, manufact various snack foods for the cheaper end of the market, such as aldi own label and tesco value etc etc. Cheap as chips! Oh dear another lame crack. Nick

Greg

check out www.tesco.com you will need to register but make up an address and use this as your postcode CW1 3SB then you can check out our prices. Hopefully this will work for you. The post code is a local one although not mine. And sadly i cant get anyone staff discount for the dotcom branch either, my spending is watched and limited yearly. I get sacked for lending to my own mother because its not my personal shopping. So many rules lol.

from now on

Im going to call Jon "Colin" LOL. For some reason we seem to have lost Colin Quaver although the Monsters still make their appearance. Mmm i love the flamin hot monster munch. Such an incredible snack. Nick
