I just ran across this whil looking up the hvac stuff.. Wow... I can remember american standard plumbing stuff being very well made and of good quality from the difrrent houses i've lived in and grew up in (from a 1948 Matchbox to a sprawling 1968 Ranch to a 1988 Condo).. Hope they retain the same good quality and such.. Plus its all globally owned now, not american owned..

In this part of the world

Over here they trade as Ideal Standard rather than American Standard.

Although they're not the dominant player.

Circa 1935,

Our toilet, and bathtub are American Standard. The date of manufacture for the toilet is stamped on the inside of the tank lid, 6/28/35. The only thing ever done to the john is new guts, 3 in all. Works like a charm.

Maybe the new owners will improve the American Standard webs

I tend to spec a lot of Kohler simply because they have a large and useful range of products and their website is excellent: good specs on everything and CAD drawings (not useless pdf files) on most of it. This may seem trivial but I can't afford to spend hours chasing down products if I can do it in minutes. I'd love to see American Standard and its accessory brands match Kohler's website and the breadth of their lineup, but they have really languished in the past few years.

Kohler Last of It's Kind!

While I don't think Kohler is still from Kohler, they are the best quality plumbing product on the market today.

They used to be "Kohler of Kohler".

American Boiler & "Standard" Plumbing use to be the best and lasted forever. They however have been bought and sold so many times they have lost focus of the business and are not well regarded these days.

Trust me, Kohler is still from Kohler, WI. If I could afford it, our home would be entirely Kohler, they last forever. If any of you happen to be in that area, you have to visit their design center, and their "Great Wall of China".
