Well I finally took delivery today of the Amica AWM612D. I've not had time to bring it in yet to test it but i've got some observations so far.
Firstly it comes well boxed. Not in a shrink wrap polystyrene outer that falls apart like many machines but a proper box with strapping so you can carry it and even rebox it if you want.
The build quality seems good for the price of the machine. It feels fairly sturdy and the controls are well laid out and don't feel like they will drop off in your hand.
The door is solid and easy to open with that huge handle.

I've looked at the instructions and there are some interesting features:
1.You can alter the water levels of the wash manually
2.You can open the door after the wash has started by pressing a button that instantly unlocks it if safe to do so
3.It has power failure memory. Very annoying having a machine that doesn't if the power cuts off
4.It has a self clean program at 90 degrees to perform a maintenance wash
5.Wash times seem pretty good at 1 hour 23 mins for cottons 60 and 57 minutes for synthetics 40.
6.Also there is a wash only program so you can do a wash and not have the rinse or spin. Quite unusual.

So when I get time this week (if I do get time!)i'll try and get a wash done in it. Here's a couple of pics anyway.

Amica AWM612D

A very nice machine Steve.

We have sold quite a few of these lately. Like you say a very solid construction unlike any other Amica washer we have sold. It just seems to stand out from the rest. 1200 spin & 6kg load & a nice retail price & with a 2 year guarantee. If i was ready for a new washer i would snap this one up right now!

Poland

Ronhic, as discussed in another thread recently Amica machines from this new range are made by Samsung in Poland who bought the Amica washing machine plant there not long ago. These are the first new design Samsung built Amicas on sale. 6Kg and 7KG 1200 and 1400 spins are available and I believe there is an 8kg coming too.

Ok i've had a look inside and it has a split tub design which is good so at least you can get in it if you need to. The PCB is mounted at the top front. All looks nicely laid out

First wash

Managed to get a video of the start of the wash but had to give up after that because there are so mnay people coming in and out today they are ruining my filming.

The machine does the first 20 mins of the cottons cycle in cold water and then heats up. Just like my old Miele did because its better at removing stains that way. The machine defaults to 900 spin on main programs and you press 1200 if you want it. Also you can alter the quick wash settings doing cold, 30 or 40 and a choice of water levels and spin speeds.
The machine does 2 rinses by default and you can add an extra one if you want. It seems to rinse well on 2 as it also flushes itself through with fresh water when its draining which is quite good.
The spin cycle is also good. It doesn't seem fussy about balancing and spins anticlockwise. The spin cycle is also completed in about 7 mins in all unlike some other machines that are 19 mins long lol. So it just gets on with it.

I'll upload the video shortly

Looks Promising....

Nice to see the split tub - don't find that on many machines of this price anymore. The 2 year guarantee also inspires abit of confidence even if it's just a way of breaking into the market.

Did the Amica replace the Beko or the Servis? I liked that Beko, particularly with its water jet!

Amica

Yes it's good to have a split tub rather than the sealed tubs we keep seeing which writes a machine off if you have a bearing failure or something stuck in it that you can't get at through the heater or sump holes. No, this machine is not replacing the Servis, it's purely a test machine only. I may have one in future but it would be an 8kg version as 6kg is too small for me anyway. I've got to wait a bit before the 8Kg comes out. I don't have the Beko anymore I sold it some time ago.
