Amish Fireplace

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

My parents got one.

The cabinet is nice. REAL wood. The heater is your standard grade. It has a color wheel inside to simulate 'fire' burning in the fireplace and the heater has a blower.

My parents heat by Propane and using this in the larger rooms (living and dining room)actually keeps the inside temprature stable and the gas furnace doesn't have to cycle as much.

Can you get the same thing for cheaper? Probably yes. I think mom and dad got this on a rebate or customer referall or something, so they got it cheaper than asking price.

It is just a fancy electric heater

The gambit is an "electrical heater" is declared to be 100 percent efficient.

1000 watts is 3412 BTUH

If one heats up just a dinky bedroom or family room with electric; it CAN be cheaper than heating the entire house with natural gas.

Using electricity to heat stuff is often dumb and expensive. The power plant is burning coal, making steam, running a generator, then one is heating again with a dumb hot coil of wire with electricity.

It means one really has burned up 2/3 rd's heat in coal to make 1/3 in that coil at your house.

Even with a 1970's gas heater it costs only 1/2 what it costs to run an electric heater.

Cozy Glow

If one is sitting and watching TV and wants to use an electric heater, a 1930's Westinghouse Cozy Glow Copper focused bowl is very effective

"free"amish heaters

seen those Amish heaters advertized as "free"-you pay for the
amish built wood frame and it comes with a"free"chinese-made
heater in it...

Got 2 of them for looks. You can run the lights for looks only. They are just a heater like any other heather 1500 watts is all you going to get with it has a fan blower.

I got them dirt cheap one for me and my sister. They sell them on ebay the company has a ebay shop they sell factory rejects. Only thing I seen wrong was nothing at all

Yes, you probably can easily buy a heater that's as good for a lot less. But, there may be something to be said for the decorative value of the Amish mantel. And, after a fast Google search, I'd have to say if the prices I'm seeing are right, the Amish fireplace may actually be a good deal VS the average Home Depot fake fireplace.

I also have and use one of there electric stoves dimplex makes nice units also. I like there since they sell parts like the heating element if it blows.

Dimplex makes some beautifully units from wall to tv center unit. Best part there look more real then any others on the market.

Heat surge Amish Fireplace look nice and that is it no parts are sold to fix it. Also the sides are press wood only the top is said to be real wood.

Nice American wooden box around Chinese heater

Originally the adverts did not mention China.

Later adverts added that heater unit is made in China, and it is "free". It flashes up for a few seconds, if you blink you will be back to watching craftsmen with cool hats. The "heater made in China" was probably done for legal reasons. Aunt Bea would buy a heater and assume the Amish are soldering the IC's on the remote control?

Thus one is buying the folksy all American wooden frame; around a made in China heater. If they showed the factory in China, it would not sell as well to the typical American. One has the "feel good" sense that the craftsmen used a 24" level and wooden clamps and dressed well. Adverts like this make be wonder what the catch is.

The 1500 Watt heater I have is made in America; Indiana by Patton about 20 years ago. All I have done is relubed the fan and once replaced the thermal fuse. When I bought it I paid about 2 bucks extra at Savons to get one all made in the USA. It was something like 18 bucks. It doesnt have a wood frame or fireplace look.

Haier could market washers like this. One gets a nice American wooden "skins"; around a made in China TL or FL washer. Folks would "feel good".

Hey! Amish furniture is expensive!
We have two Amish furniture stores in our area. I don't know where the furniture comes from as we don't have any Amish that I know of nearby.
It's good quality furniture, very heavy and always use solid wood. But very expensive and most of it is unfinished.
I don't think any Amish carpenter would build something with chip board in it. It appears that they make things that last.

I know lol. But they say it like this and most think it is all wood.
Amish made real wood mantle

Mantle is the top of a fireplace only. So they get buy with it no where do they say the bottom or sides are real wood they are cheap press wood boards. I know this took the unit out when I got it to check it out. Built ok wood screws and no glue. Wheels are small and it is tips.

Thats why I tell people if you find a Dimplex cheaper go for it. Heck I seen cheap ones that look the same as the so said Amish made ones. as long as it is 1500 watt it is the same unit.

engineering genius from the China coast,

The HEAT SURGE miracle heater is a work of engineering genius from the China coast, so advanced you simply plug it into any standard wall outlet

Sorry about double post it did that on it's own

Why did I buy these. Ok in 07 they had a ebay shop that they sold the returns from suckers. I bought one for a price of 129.99 at the time cheap even cheaper then say sears.

Why 2 did not want 2 I order a remote also they sent me another fireplace. I gave theme a call no one picked up the phone. Email them on ebay got a reply to keep it cost to much to ship, There words not mine we make more on this item then it is worth so no be lost to us as a company.

I also got the 2 remotes for free since they felt sorry I even had there item. lol

Would I buy one aging no not at the price they want. If say 99.00 to 120.00 I might.

But look local no shipping can return it easy and will be the same thing. Want a reel wood top make one or buy one cheap.

Can it save you money might or might not. My sister did use hers just like they said in the ad in pprint at the time. Her light bill after 30 days was over 200.00. And they have electric heat also. With out this heater her bill is only about 80.00.

I only use the lights for looks two 40 watt bulbs so I only run it a little here and there for looks. No big deal on my light bill.

Infrared Technology

So what's up with their hype for infrared heating along with convection heating?
Is it any more efficient?

Can these fireplaces really heat up a room better than a small ceramic heater?

Gary-

It depends.

Depends on the size of the room.

Depends on how well the room is insulated.

Depends on current (ambient) temperature of the room.

Depends on what temperature is desired in the room.

There are many variables in temperature control. I know a father/son HVAC team, and they are two of the most intelligent, logical men I have ever met.
