I found this article online. It is from a conversation I had with Lita Solis-Cohen, editor of Maine Antique Digest. It has been so long ago, that I don't remember how we got in touch, but she was a delight to talk to. I do remember a friend mentioning her name to me so maybe he tipped her off about our collection. She got married when combos were new on the market. Her husband was an executive with Sears so she had one of the 33" LK combos and raised twins with it. I asked her about how it handled laundry for two babies and she told me her schedule. After feeding the babies and putting them down for a nap in the morning, she put a load in the combo which would be finished by lunch. She would feed and take care of the babies, put another load in and put away the first one. She replaced the first combo with one of the 29" LK combos and was not pleased when she could not replace it with another one. She is a nice lady and, unlike some antiques enthusiasts, does not look down her nose at those of us who collect different types of stuff.
