So most of the time during the week I’m Samantha, and on the weekends I usually turn into Serena, I have been known to be Uncle Arthur for a bit, when I’m talking on the phone to a few friends I sometimes turn into Gladys Kravitz, and occasionally when I’m trying to park my big Dodge Truck I become Aunt Clara (just ask Greg, Eddy, Louis or Jon Charles), but on occasion I do take a turn at being Endora, and become a total bitch <br
So this post is brought to you by Endora -- the total bitch <br
I received this email today from a member who is a regular poster <br
I’m going to do one of the following <br
A. Realize the error of my ways and start changing the whole website
B. Have a vote to see if others agree and if the majority says yes then I will take these suggestions and I will start changing the whole website
C. Roll my eyes and give them a Bronx Cheer
O
D. Turn them into an artichoke <br
OK club, which one do you think I’m going to do??? <br <br
Hi Robert I hope all is going well with you
Say, I was wondering why you are no longer keeping the chats from the "Super Forum". I don't know if you realize that by eliminating saving those messages that you have basically cut the humanity out of the group. I mean that was the area where people could discuss things that were not washer related yet people with "washer interests" could "let their hair down" shall we say. That forum is where all the pictures of members, discussion of daily ups and downs, and so on is.
by failing to preserve those messages and going as far as stating that you won't be maintaining them it is like pretending that only part of peoples needs are important. ...or it is like saying there is something to hide or be ashamed of. There is nothing to hide or be ashamed of here. Is there?
I find it hard to believe that money for storage space for those messages is an issue.
I think you should either concentrate on just the first 2 forums, if you want it to be strictly about appliances, and drop the "Super" forum all together or go back to archiving all
OF course if I were to offer my opinion on the whole forum thing I would say
change the green(little used) forum to the "guest forum" where new people just looking for quick answers to their service dilemma could pose the question and disappear WITHOUT having to fill out a "regular user" profile.
change the pink forum to be strictly for appliance aficiandos WITHOUT the unnecessary, and childish APPLIANCISM (meaning the petty discriminating based on the decade of appliances that one admires) This was particularily RAMPANT in this group when I joined and there is still an under current of disrespect, jealousy, or whatever the hell it is. Unnecessary.
and then finally the yellow group for general discussions.
And mix up the graphics a bit. The site graphics and group names are very 1960s
and perhaps fold the vacuum site into this site since there seems to be alot of the same members
and maybe, if there is other sites 'out there' that are are based on similar themes. refrigerator sites or stove sites, etc.. provide some links
Finally, as I mentioned above I have noted a negative attitude from the beginning about appliances that were made after roughly 1970 and am wondering where this comes from? I would like to understand.
I don't want to ruffle feathers and make requests that are not in tune with your group aim. It seems the group is made up of older, ( I say older and I am 40, your what 44?) 50 somethings, 60 something, plus, people who may have once worked in the industry in some capacity. If this is your primary audience, please let me know. I will find greener grass elsewhere.
It is fun to see people getting the brass ring, so to speak, such as in acquiring 50 year old appliances that are unused and such. But, we all know what happens after you get the brass ring. But then, we are all getting older. right.
I hope the group can maintain vitality but, in my opinion it needs change, improvement, and an indication that it is open to more than just stuff from the 1950s
I find the group to be more than just a place to check the weather as alot of us share more than just an interest in washing machines. I think the forum history should show that.
The way it is now it is like a page out of a creepy 1950s book with the certain pages missing that discuss "taboo" issues. lol. That is just one thing that I hate about the 1950s. The look of suburbia with the foul smell of the victorian era hanging over it like a mushroom cloud.
