This site seems to be in a bit of a political mood at present, with the US Prez election and all. I thought some of you might be interested to see this.

My partner is standing for election to the local council, the election is November. It is a postal ballot, papers are posted out in early Nov, with papers due back by Nov 28 and the count taking place on Nov 29.

It is a proportional representation system, seven councillor positions, unsubdivided election. The shire used to be divided into wards with one or two councillors per ward, but wards have now been abolished so everyone gets to vote for all the councillor positions, and can choose from all the candidates.

My partner is standing for the Australian Greens party. Here is a link to his website...

Very impressive and detailed website

If only local politicians here would do the same. Mostly, it's just personality that gets local people voted in, after which they pretty much get reelected as often as they want.

I looked up Lavers Hill on my Victoria map. Looks like a beautiful area. Have you ever posted pictures to the club from the Great Ocean Road?

Goodness,

no loud music, no insistence that a vote for his opponents is the same as giving the Leninist/Marxist/Socialist/Fascists a foot in the door...

And a coherent plea for his stated goals.

Hell, he even likes libraries? The Anti-Christ! Next thing you know, he'll make little children learn how to read. Start doing that and, soon enough, they learn how to think independently.

I don't know, Chris - are you sure you want this guy making decisions about your future?
