How well this contraption worked is anyone's guess. Have a hunch a rug beater and some elbow grease did better.

That machine PROBABLY did an excellent job on bare floors, but I imagine it didn't perform very well on carpeting...probably elbow grease and a rug beater did work better.

My great aunt had one of these. I remember her using it on her hardwoods and carpeting. I was always a little frightened of it as a kid. It sure didn't look like any other vacuum I had seen. That was at least 30 years ago and I can still remember the sound of it. I do remember her having a blue Bissell Sweeper that she used a lot. She said she thought it cleaned better. Who knows? It's so ugly
I don't doubt that it performed, but personally, I wouldn't want that ugly thing in my house. I like appliances and household devices, that not only perform well, but look good too.
