A big thanks to Ben (swestoyz) who sent some some absolutely gorgeous Kelvinator sales literature brochures from approximately 1962, they are now available in the Ephemera Libary. Kelvinator Ranges and Food-A-Rama Brochures plus service information are coming soon as well!

What's Interesting....

....About the ranges is - if you'll look carefully at the 40-inch models, you'll see the basic frame that WCI used forever, and which Electrolux uses for Frigidaire even today.

It may have been "most youthful" once, but it's not any more, LOL!

Is That....

....A 40-inch drop-in range? Yeow!

I would be willing to bet they did not sell many of those. The only way to have one would be in a new, or newly remodeled, kitchen.

Still, interesting to know it existed.

P.S.: Not one of those 40-inch models shows the small oven door open. That side-hinged door always did reek of cheap, and I bet Kelvinator had already figured that out. Better to let everyone think it was a real oven door like GE had until they were already in the showroom and in the salesman's clutches.

What's interesting...

The pic Danemodsandy posted is exactly our Frigidaire bought from Sears about 6 years ago. Works fine, but certainly isn't nearly as sturdy as the 1969 Frig. Cust. Imp. it replaced. The bottom storage drawer has never pulled in and out smoothly; built of lighter metal more inclined to twist than slide! The 69's drawer slid like buttah!

So, looks like they REALLY have gotten plenty of mileage out of that chassis. Suspect it was once made of heavier metal though!
