Found in back of an appliance store today. Out in the cold and rain. It is an 806 with no tub light. Was told that is was one of the last 806's produced(did not realize that that latter 806 models came with no tub light). It appears to be in good condition. Buttons are in great shape. The tub was about 1/3 full of water.

Tub lights....

Hey Gary,

When you get a chance, post the serial number of this 806... then we can figure out when it was built.

My understanding is Maytag stopped the tub lights in '73 or '74. The white 806 I had (built in 1975) did not have a tub light, nor does my almond 806 (built in 1980), though that will be changing in the not too distant future.

My 75 HA806 has a tub light, but it's an "01" Series. Surprised the hell out of me!!!

Andrew,

I am not after the lens cover since this model does not have a tub light. Just wanted to save it from the crusher.
Here is the model#. Any idea of manufacture date?

Toggles and I

Will pick it up in the morning. Repair person stated that it had a leaking issue. Perhaps an easy fix. We will see.
Perhaps the prior owners did not want to spend $$$ on an older machine and just decided to get a new one.

Wow... thats a lovely machine. If you decide to part it out, let me know. My chrome control panel surround is shot. I'm even looking for a cabinet, since mine is rusty.

If not, good luck getting it running. Its pretty swank!

Andrew, this model does not have a tub light.

Sorry, Gary. I knew that but still couldn't resist. (bows head in shame...)

Your machine was born in September, 1976. That looks to be in really good shape! There doesn't seem to be any obvious leak trails inside EXCEPT on the side wall to the left which makes me wonder about the injector assy as a possible culprit. Yours is basically the same machine that I just gave to QSD-DAN. His is a HA806, series 2 as well. Your buttons and timer dial are in better shape, tho. He has extras, so he'll be in good shape. His injector was shot too, but We put in the updated assy and all was well. Keep us posted!

Andrew

What an eye. You were absolutely correct. With $15 worth of injector parts, I have a perfectly working 806.

Please meet Blanca Nieves(Snow White) in all her perfectly working glory.

She was taken(with permission) from the back of an appliance store,(someone's trade-in). She was covered with mud and muck and filled with water.

We were told that the main tub seal was leaking. It made no sense because she was holding water.

So we took her home and fixed her up.

Wildlife nest. Strangely, no droppings and no expired animals.

Luckily no chewed wires. I suppose fibberglass housing makes for uncomfortable accomodations and abandoning one's home........

The timer makes that distinct Maytag "tsink" escapement sound every minute as it turns in very noticable increments.

Oddly the older harvest-gold a806 (aqua panel)in Gary's collection does not. So did this one get a new timer that was NOS (new old stock)? Or perhaps did the older A806 get a new timer that does not have the escapement sound?

Enquiring minds want to know.....
