Hi guys

Here are some pics of a 1965 Semi Automatic Frigidaire 'Super' that is now mine. I got a call from a lovely old lady who heard my radio interview and decided to call.

The strange thing is that she took over a month to contact me and yet i was only one suburb away from her when i was on my road trip to Victoria only 2 weeks before!!

So, now i have to arrange transport to Brisbane at some stage down the track. It's in very good condition, the only issue she has with it is that it's leaking a bit of water, but still running perfectly.

Enjoy the pics
Cheers
Leon

P.S: please excuse the quality of the pics as they were scanned from pics from a disposable camera that i sent her.

O wow!

That is such an amazing washer!! Look at that tub!! I could play with a washer like this for hours and never get bored.

Are manual timers something unique to the Australian market? Automatic timers have been around for decades but it seems like many of the older machines from down under use manual timers.

"Super"

Super was the beginner model of the many different models that FRIGIDAIRE had been marketing. The list from cheapest to most expensive went:

Super
Deluxe
Custom
Custom Deluxe
Gold Crown
Imperial
Custom Imperial
Elite

I usualy prefered the Gold Crowns but never past up on a Custom Imperial.

Hey Leon,

That looks great, a fantastic find. I wonder if its a pulsamatic like mine, or has the Multimatic innards? The plastic on mine is pretty brittle from years of sitting outside.

Does yours have the heater option?

The reason for Semi Auto's here, was that they were significantly cheaper. IE $100 plus.

No water valves, pressure switch, and the most expensive part, the timer was not included.

The most basic semi auto I have, has no power switch, you turn the power on and off at the wall, and it has a mechanical linkage to switch between wash and spin.

Because the copper and wash house were so common here up until the late 60's a Semi Auto was such an improvement that nobody complained about having to manually control the cycle.

Just saw this!

I have seen this machine in advertisements and now you have one. Well done!

I must say the semi auto idea is one that lends itself to a lot of fun.
