I saw that machine on e-bay....

Hi,

I have had several Eureka brand machines from the vintage that you have. Thier fun. They have a very distinctive whine to them that you just don't ever forget.

You always could tell that sound from the Hoover convertibles of the same vintage...

It looks REALLY good.

I grew up with a red-trimmed Eureka upright (you still see these on eBay from time to time, although I haven't seen one recently) as well as a blue-trimmed version from the mid to late 1970's, and that whine/hum when my mom turned it on was truly unforgettable, along with the sound of the Vibra-Groomer on the carpet. I still have a home video of me using it when I was 2 years old (1990)! My grandmother had a newer one from 1991 and it had the same sound to it. She used it until 1999 when she bought a Dirt Devil (Yuk!) However, the green 2135 has a quiet hum to it, not like my Convertible, but not the trademark Eureka upright whine either. One of these days I'll look under the hood to see if there's a new motor or not. The only thing that keeps me from looking is that Eureka hoods are really a pain to get off. The early Convertibles are the best: Remove two screws from the bottom of the machine and the hood lifts right off!

I also have a white/almond 630D from the 1980's, and it has the "whine," though not as pronounced as the old Eurekas we had, due to the fact that I bought it from a vacuum shop, and they serviced it. Or it could be that I haven't heard a Eureka run since I was 7!! Needless to say I use my 630D much more, because of the way it sounds. Both Eurekas are great at cleaning carpets as well as floors, and the Vibra-Groomer on the 630D really lifts the nap better than the Convertible.

Eureka....the VERY BEST in Vacuum Cleaners.....

Hi Austin,

Sorry it took me so long to reply, but I had to get up to my folk's house and go thru my filing cabinet in my old room to find the dealer brochure"ette" that shows the cleaner that you have now.

I was given this by an old vac freind of mine in about 1998, and if you would like I will try to find someone who could scan it for me and send it to you. My system, while working...well, would choke like what if I had a scanner, otherwise you would already have it... My system is from 1999 and is hella old and slow.

Anywho, his dealer brochure shows four differnet models from the 1976-77 lineup all in the same color as your machine but with different features.

For an example:

Model 2315 (Sport)- A soft quiet easy green previals in both bag and the sleek continental styling of the massive hood. Perfect for the swinging singles apartment or the newlyweds' cozy nest. Features include 6 position Dial-A-Nap , Vibra-Groomer king size top fill dust bag and edge cleaners.

MOdel 2325 (Casual)-Handsome hardworking yet so easy to maneuver even on the deepest shags. A bright headlight for dark corners. Convienent handle switch. A WIDE furniture guard plus 6 position Dial-A-Nap, Vibra-Groomer, king size dust bag designed so that suction power is never impeded as bag fills.

Model 2375 (Everyday)- A combination of convienence, capacity and a "come hither" loook that lures dirt and dust out ofevery nook and corner of your condiminium or your four bedroom surburban ranch. The dust bag is extra large capacity so that you can breeze thru with quick non-stop cleaning. this model boasts the added convienences of of Rugulator, the smooth sliding scale adjustment that lets you glide from one carpet depth to another, even deep shag. The motor is two speed Headlight, convienent handle switch and Edge Kleeners inclusive.

TOL Model 2385 (Chic)- The ultimate in today's cleaners. Beauty, styling a nd color such as this should never be hidden away. This one will spoil the maid. It has it all... Cordaway automatic cord control, giant dust bag, Vibra-Groomer, Rugulator sliding scale adjustment, headlight, 2 speed motor, Power-Touch handlegrip and Edge Kleeners. Go ahead...for once in your life, soil yourself...you deserve the best.

In the back it talks about the Dial-A-Nap the Rugulator and the Vibra-Groomer and edge kleeners and why they make this lineup an excellent buy. It also talks about the Lexan base, a further indicator that this was the first series to abandon the cast aluminum base. Only the hood was.

Please a let me knowe if you wnat the copy/scan.. I will try and do it as soon as humanly possible.
