Having just moved into a new house, this was awaiting us and, following advice on this Forum, I understand that they work pretty well and it would be best cleaning it up, replacing worn parts, and using it.

Top off, all looking a bit dusty. the machine is very rumply, sounds like the fan, although the belt was very loose. I tried fitting a new one but, although the air flow was much improved, the rumble was still there.

machine now stripped

I spent some time last night (11th May) stripping the machine down for assessment. The outer shell seems in good order. The timer is not a clockwork type but an electrical Sibel (French made) timer. Maybe it was replaced at some point. The knob looks quite new and still has a protective plastic film over the metal bezel.

heater coils

Burnt fluff surrounding the heater coils needs vacuuming out. It looks as though the top heater coil was replaced, as the centre rope looks newer, which is hard to see on these crappy mobile phone pics...

fan bearing - Need help on this bit

Here's the bit I'm stuck on. The fan is made from metal and its centre shaft spins on a bronze bush. There is minor scoring on the shaft but it's not detrimental but there is movement between the shaft and bronze bush. Are these bushes available? Can anyone help at all?

dryer referb

Hi Rob, looking great with the refurb, easy to work on and lots of workarounds with parts / spares, am parting out same model which is at Als in the next couple of weeks and will have a spare fan / volute chamber which you are welcome to but wont be asap...

Keep them free of fluff and will last a long time, very quick drying as Mathew and Gary and John keep on about ha ha.. "Oovah Who Better"..

parting out Mike?

that cabinet and panel look practically mint from here, probably better than mine, lol. I know can't keep them all.

Rob I've got a few of the fan bearing kits, you get the shaft and the bearing you're holding. so you're welcome to one of those.

oh and mine also has a sibel timer, so I'm sure these replaced the clockwork ones later in the run.

email an address to post to and I'll try and find one over the weekend,

Mathew
