Hi guys
So 5 years ago a freind got rid of her Kenmore DD and bought 2020 Maytag top loader with matching dryer. She was never too crazy about the new Maytag. Anyway..the Maytag shook itself to death or something last week. (I wasn’t there) and she decided she hated it and wanted rid of it and out of her sight! LOL
After spending what she spent on the Maytag, she didn’t want another new style washer..she asked me to find her something older that I’d have a better chance at fixing if ever needed repair. So I went to a used appliance store and got her this. Came with 90 day warranty.
(Close to the model she should have kept)
It looked to be very clean & in good condition for a 25 year old machine.
I hooked it up, ran an empty load with hot water Borax and a little bleach to kinda sanitize. Machine ran great and was very quiet.
I should have run it with the lid open to see everything instead of just listening to it go through its cycles as I don’t think I heard spray rinses?
Other than that she’s been using and says machine performs flawlessly.

Any reason it wouldn’t do spray rinses at the times I was expecting to hear them?
And any idea as to load capacity?

My lady Kenmore from 1986 direct drive had only one spray rinse and that was after the deprance and it was one spray Rance no other spray rinses and it was the same on normal permanent press and delicate. In fact delicate had no spray ounces. Permanent press at the cooldown in the spray Rance after that cool down .

In fact the poor rinsing was one of the reasons why I couldn't wait to get rid of it and get a front loader in 2006 and I've had nothing but front loaders ever since. I constantly had the second rinse on the normal cycle always turned on

DD's are very stingy with spray rinses unless you get an Ultra Rinse model. I've also noticed with Whirlpool/Kenmore washers is that the more BOL a washer is, the more stingy it's with rinsing. That even goes for belt drives. I've seen some higher end belt drives do up to 7 spray rinse pulses and others just one after the final spin. Unsure why they didn't engineer a set amount of spray rinses across all models, especially before EPA regulations, like other manufacturers of that time did.

The Kenmore DD I personally use now (pic below is a 1997 and it does a spray rinse during spin after wash..before deep rinse and a spray rinse during spin after deep rinse.
I expected the machine above to do the same as mine at home. I’m not sure of anything since I didn’t run it with lid up and relied on my hearing.
(Most of my hearing went away last year)
Don’t wavy to tink something is wrong with it if it’s normal for that model.
Why do some model have white tub and others have grey?
John were are you? LOL

Gray basket is a budget/lower model thing. White is an additional porcelain coating/layer.

Is a tech sheet stashed inside the console? It should have a chart of the cycle sequences, which would confirm when spray rinses occur.

I found what should be the correct wiring diagram with cycle chart for model 110.20712990 in the OP. It shows a spray only in the 2nd spin on the Ultra Clean cycle. First (which is the cool down) and 2nd spin on Permanent Press I.

It seems to depend on the model. Here's a 1997 Kenmore that does not spray rinse during the first spin, only during the last spin (at 30:49 and 31:30)

Thanks DaDoEs
I didn’t run a PP cycle when I tested it
Can’t blame my hearing then!
I’ll have her run PP and see
Have to say it’s one of the quietest machines I’ve run across
