That is really neat, to keep the heat out of the house and make outdoor get-togethers more interesting.

The snow in Palm Springs is really unusual. Other than that, this listing seems completely legit.

Looks to be in great condition, and these things work great, Ask the man that Owens two of them, it is far more than a novelty item.
And while $3,800 is a lot I can't think of anything you could buy today that does what this does for any less.

I thought the same thing. How and why is this on Palm Springs CL?
A Partio cart strikes me as something that would have only been considered when building/remodeling a home or outdoor space. In any other case, it wouldn't likely have been plug & play, and in addition to the sales price one would have had to consider the cost of provisioning 240v service to the patio area, perhaps in addition to existing 240 service for a dryer and/or stove and/or oven, which could have required an entire service panel upgrade.
I can see why these are rare. They were overkill for the average backyard griller during the period they were being produced.

The seller might be trying to appeal to a more "patio" market for this than available in the midwest, in winter. I didn't find it listed on any area CL. It's also possible that they entered the location zip code mistakenly.

Palm Springs is the perfect place for one of these outdoor cooking centers, and there is not likely a single house in PSs that cannot come up with a 30 amp 240 volt line. This appliance comes with a 50 foot cord so if you don't install a dedicated outlet on the patio you can drag the cord inside like we do at Jeff's house and use an outlet that is there for an extra dryer or electric range.
Even in California homes have not been built without 240 volt service since well before WW2.

I thought the snow in the photos was suds from washing the car. I also never expected to find someone who owens 2 of them. The seller has thoughtfully listed it under "antiques" too. I thought these came with an umbrella. If it's not there I'd insist on a discount, after all, the ad says "complete". </span>
