OK, hands up if you're old enough to remember watching Art Linkletter's daytime TV show.

He passed away today, at the age of 97.

The show was known for one of its regular segments called "Kids Say The Darndest Things."

Haven't seen him on TV for a long time. I wasn't sure he was still around. But 97 is a great long life, and he did seem to enjoy it fully.

He was also probably one of the most genial and kindly hosts on the medium, ever.

As I recall, I had to be home from school sick in order to watch his show. It aired just a little too early in the afternoon. His show had a few different incarnations, with "People are Funny," "House Party" and "Kids Say the Darndest Things" being the most memorable. I love the looks he would give the audience and camera after a kid had provided a gem of an answer.

How come a cable channel like Nickelodeon doesn't jump all over material like this? It's gotta be super cheap to air.
