So this weekend was another rescue mission, bringing this wonderful 1955 Westinghouse 30" range in from the cold on the porch where it was living... the new homeowners replaced the kitchen and the dependable Westy was looking for a new home... and hoping to escape the scrappers! She is in very nice shape, very complete, and I look forward to testing her soon (the owners said that she was working... and you can see that she was nicely maintained and cleaned).

And only about 10 miles from me! That makes it an easy rescue mission!

The Corox burner elements alone are worth their weight in gold.

I'm betting the stove will be a reliable performer and that the oven will roast and bake perfectly.

Jeff just to le you know the Westy was not gonna end up on t

I know that because I contacted the woman today because I was going to buy it for my kitchen in Oakton. I am just glad that if I did not get it it at least went to a good home and to someone who will appreciate it. Just do me one favor though, if you ever do decide to get rid of it let me know as I would love to have a vintage range to go with my 1957 vintage Petal Pink Ge fridge....PAT COFFEY

I have one just like it. Note the Super Corox element at the front. It has an infinite control while the others are 5 heat position switches. When you turn any of them on, the surface lamp lights to illuminate the color wheels in the switches. I used to baby sit for people with an early 50s WH range and loved the way the heating patterns worked.
