Were those panels under the cooktop originally for the controls? Those are my favorite style of kitchen cabinets, I wish you could buy new ones.

That house - particularly the entry - reminds me of one around the corner from me. It belonged to distant relatives of my dad, and was built in 1954. It is one floor without a basement. I thought it was interesting that the closets of two bedrooms were adjacent with no wall between them. My friend Lisa (their granddaughter) and I would go in through one bedroom and come out in the other. I've not been in there in for over 40 years, so have no idea what has been done since.

No, I didn't go to that one, it was too far from me. You are right that sales like that are getting rare. I find it somewhat depressing going to them knowing it is highly unlikely that the house will be preserved and restored in its original state once sold.

These people must have died millionaires. It looks like they never bought anything new. What I wouldn’t give to go to that sale.

Thank you for sharing. The washer and dryer is super rare - I've never seen any real life examples of either of these on this site. These are TOL 1959s - I believe the 1st year of this particular design with the automatic program buttons. In 1960 they made changes to the control panel by using a different colour scheme and adding some functionality. Too bad there isn't some better pictures showing the full control panels.

I'm not clear on whether the W&D were actually part of the auction or it was just those detergents on top of the washer. Someone that is close enough and has interest should check with the auctioneer to clarify if they were sold and if not, look into grabbing them! You never know!
