That would be a "Filter-Ring".

That is the LDA-5800Y1 I believe, and it debuted in 1976. This model has popped three times in about as many weeks. And in three different colors too if I am correct. I love the Surgilator in these models. I'm pretty sure this was one of the last models that had the un-winged version of these. I don't think I have ever seen this washer in white.
