Someone has offered me a mangle that is close to 100 yrs old. It is gas, about 5 foot long, has ornate iron legs and is very heavy. If anyone would be interested in it please contact me. Jeff

Have seen those at estate sales and auctions, by brands such as Maytag, Simplex, Thor and the like; and while always tempted, never really bothered.
One reason is the obvious saftey precautions when dealing with 100 year old gas appliances. The other is total lack of parts and pretty much anything else on said units.
Being as the above may, am told there are units such as these still in operation the world over. Miele boasts some of it's early ironers are still working in rest homes, convents, and god only knows where else 50 years or more after they have been installed.
One also finds those huge uber-mangles in Germany. Sized to handle large sheets and tablecloths in one go without being folded.
