Liberator Dryer E 1730
My Mother bought the very similar 1730 just before I was born in 1979; it lasted until 1998 when the timer would only work occasionally and then one day it started blowing smoke. I'd been trying to give it a bit of an internal defluffing around the heater area days before and came a cropper when a lot of the sealing tape crumbled away. That's what you'll need to be careful of if you start unscrewing the back!
They're a nice piece of Hotpoint design history but don't get excited thinking it will perform well: these are really only suited to small items - ours was mostly used to finish and fluff pants and socks. Anything much larger is liable to crease, especially with the unidirectional tumbling...think 2 shirts maximum! Oh, and towels will dry OK but the fluff filter grille can snag the loops so you get areas of pulled threads (mind you, this can happen in a lot of dryers).
Watch out too for the door switch - it's a little strip of metal behind that hole in the door and can get dislodged to one side.
On the plus side, the polypropylene drum doesn't get too hot to touch if you open the door mid-cycle.
Good luck in the restoration. I think sealing tape for the back panels is still available...or at least was in the last couple of years when I checked out of curiosity.
Interesting to see the service manual...talk about cutting back on the features: first the door seal (though suppose with an open front vent there's not much point) then the wheels (not good in a little compact you might want to shift around)!
