I just configured my iPad and managed to set up an Airpot Extreme (Wi-Fi) at home. This is quite an amazing little device. I haven't figured out how to get it to use my Airport rather than going straight to 3G. any help would be greatly appreciated!

Just think: In 20 years this will be a vintage device,LOL.

Never mind. It's using my Airport Wi-Fi. I haven't set up the 3G account with Verizon, yet. I hate being so tech-challenged, but I guess that won't improve if I don't make an attempt to use new devices. Now the challenge will be using the Wi-Fi at work, tomorrow. Thank God for workplace tech-support guys!

I ordered a wireless keyboard for the iPad, but it doesn't arrive until tomorrow. You can tell from the typos in the first post that I'm not used to using the iPad's smallish, built-in keyboard.

We have 2 ipad 2s. They are just incredible! I find myself using them for everything. And they do everything well, and fast!

In my mind, honestly, the best thing apple has every made!

Thanks for the comments, guys. I'll probably be calling on you for assistance regularly.

I'm also making an attempt to use iCloud, starting with music. I have 15,755 songs in iTunes on my iMac, and it's been busy trying to get all that in the cloud since last night at 9:00. Looks like it may finish around 10:00 this morning. I can already access about 13,000 of the songs, which is cool, although the iPad's sound is terrible. I suppose, with some a/v updates, I can use Bluetooth (also something I've never dealt with) or something to get the music to play through a decent stereo system.

Oh, the adventures!

I have an iPod 2. It's a 64GB model with 3G. The 3G is nice because there's no contract; it goes by the month. I signed up for 2GB per month for $30 through Verizon. If I find that's more than I need, they offer 1GB for $20.

I was a little disappointed to find there isn't an Office for iPad, but I found an app called Quick Office HD that should fill my needs. You can create Word documents and Exel spreadsheets (I think) among other things.

It will take two months to pay this off, then I'm ordering an iPhone 4S. That should complete my transition into the 21st century, LOL. I think my 2009 iMac has some shelf-life left before it's obsolete.

Cloudon offers a full version of word, powerpoint, and excel for FREE and it saves the files in your dropbox account! It's awesome, I use it for all my schoolwork.

(It's free because it's kinda beta... but it works really well)

(FYI dropbox is a free service that stores files online... like a virtual flash drive)
