For sale close to me. Apparently model DD80. I know nothing about whirlpool dryers (beyond their obvious link to Kenmore/Sears) so any info would be appreciated. I think it's electric because of a lack of gas fittings in photos and large amp draw.
The UL (underwriters laboratories) plate on the inside of the door opening tells us it is an electric dryer. If it was gas, the UL symbol would be replaced by a star with a flame in the middle indicating the American Gas Association.
These were pretty dryers and well built and serviceable, the down side they were a little on the noisey side and slower and less efficient than most electric dryers of the time.
Bill these should be very similar to the TOL KM dryers you have.
You can always tell just at a glance on WP built dryers if it is gas or electric by whether it has a removable service panel for the gas burner.
What do we see sneaking into the picture to the left of the dryer??? I can't tell if that's a Kenmore or a Frigidaire. BTW that's the dryer my Mom had with the matching Washer. I remember that button to open the door.
Wow, impressive this dryer is still around. To echo John, this is a 1957 model year Whirlpool, although it isn't TOL. This Supreme would be one step back from the TOL Imperial model for that year, with the '57 Supreme carrying over the 1956 Imperial control panel design.
