Friends

I posted on craigslist saying i like vintage and modern appliances, collecting, seeing how they work, i got one response, somebody making fun saying " when i come home from work i have a relationship with my stove" people are so rude!

Hi While I know this is not a Personal Ad, you give NO Information in your profile, In order for most people to respond you should at least list a first name, maybe age Etc, if I lived close by I would probably not respond even though I always love to meet other washer folks and have them over to the warehouse, Good Luck

John.

HI Keith!

I'm not in Michigan, but if you ever get to Northeast Iowa, there's a fair contingent of members here and nearby. Ben swestoyz, Cory cadman, and myself are all in the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area. Morgan Vinvac is in Dubuque. Jim autowasherfreak is in Davenport. Above us, Robert Unimatic1140 is in Minneapolis, as is Fred hooverwheelaway, as is Mark kenmore71. To the West is Greg gansky1 in Omaha. Going Northeast to Wisconsin, there's Tim polkanut. Each and every one of these people is worth a road trip in his own right, and I've probably missed a good number of people just as great.

John is right that the more complete your profile is, the more likely it is you'll find kindred spirits.

Hi Keith

Just up 53 from ya. I don't care for new crap washers! (And by new post 1970) are you in to cars?

Michigan

Hello anthony, i do like the different technology different companys have now a days, but i sort of agree with you about new stuff being crap, not sure if u read my post in the modern section about my big fiasco with ge products!!!! (Sigh) a nightmare! I couldnt even get 2 months out of a new ge machine, yet i bought a 30 year old ge filter flow and had it as my daily driver for 2 years with no trouble!!!!

No I dident see your post. I will try and find it. We have an lg that my step dad got like a year ago so far the motor and other stuff has been replaced. Thank god for DTE's program! I still can't fig out why he got something from Korea! They will be replaced with US made products! I'm so over all this import stuff. I think if we killed the EPA we could have good products once more. Government = a mess that's next to impossible to clean up.

Usa

Ha, ya well, i gave usa made a try, the dryer was bad out of the box.... Literally took it back to the store that day! Waited a week for a new one, the matching washer broke after 6 months, so ge kindly sent me a front loader which now has bad bearings after only 2 months!! I got so fed up and went back to an lg, oh yea a bought an american car too that only has 3k miles now and has tons of issues! I used to be just like you, i'd preach to everybody about buying american but not anymore! Im tired of owning junk! By the way, if the motor went on the lg they have a ten year warranty.

I think it's a matter of what company and model you go with. I have US made cars trucks and most with over 100k on them and only normal maintenance and one that just died not that long ago with over 500k. The one thing I have been seeing a lot is sensors that are on one of the big 3's vehicles that is made by a Japanese company has a higher failure rate than one that is the same on one of there cars I have taken a sensor off a US car and put it on a Japanese car and the failure rate was the same as on a US car. I don't think that is just coincidence. This is the only washer I have ever had give problems after a year of service. The one thing that got my gute was it took two and a half weeks to get the motor! That's just not ok with me...

Cars

Most "american" cars have less than 50% of american content, the toyota tundra has the most american content at over 75% built in the usa, more and more american cars are being built in mexico and other countries, i'd rather buy a foreign car made here than an american car made in mexico, the truth is if you are truely "buy american" you wouldn't own a tv, none are made here, i try to buy usa made as much as i can, at the same time if something is a good product and reliable i am going to buy it, i work too hard for my money, whatever i buy i research it

The Japanese are not stupid ppl they know how to manipulate our laws and ppl! And this is how they do it they come into a market and sell things cheeper than anyone else can and use our laws agents us in this way like you said there truck has a 75% US build but that's not really true be cuz our law states that if the largest parts are put together even if it takes one fastener it gets a made in the USA label not Japan even thow it was made there. and then they make it so we can't sell our things there by taxing our things out of the market and controlling who can sell them. For example in 1996 a jeep was like $10,000 here and in Japan it was $35,000 US money the Japanese government would only let jeep put 2 dealers in there country and they said it was junk and that's why they only sold 6 jeeps but 2 years later the biggest export was a used jeep to you got it Japan so there government made a jeep illegal to import. Now if we did that they would bomb us.
