Need another appliance in this house like one needs a whole in the head.... but am considering nabbing a small portable washer (vintage Kenmore), but getting the thing is the problem.

As found out when assisted moving a similar item several weeks ago, washing machines weigh more than dryers, and are rather "sensitive" to being shifted. All things considered they should be kept upright, which means renting a large or at least mid-sized SUV or mini-van. However this still leaves one requiring someone to ride shotgun for helping getting the thing into and more importantly out of transport.

So am just figuring would be eaiser and perhaps even less dear to put the thing out to bid on U-Ship.

Thoughts?

I've used U-Ship before several times with good success - that's how I found Jim the transporter who has been mentioned here before.

It works like ebay - if you properly describe your shipment, you should be fine. Don't accept the first couple of bids - they'll be ridiculous usually. The shippers want to see how savy you are.

Good luck!

So Many Bids - So Little Time

Ok, listing is up and bids (quite a few) are in, and still keep coming.

Obviously declined those with a low feedback number and or poor reviews, but how does one settle on a final choice?

Some shippers seem to be men with big ole trucks moving across states/regions and can pick up the item when in the area, and deliver the same. Others are local men with trucks or at least small vans that can do the job in a day or so.

Does insurance matter?
