I just purchased an old cast iron Griswold Æbleskiver pan on ebay. Does anyone here have a good recipe for Æbleskiver batter? When shipping is included, the price to mail order is just too high.  We members of AW.org have such a wonderful and diverse background plus we have many international members, I figure that someone here has an authentic recipe from Grandma as opposed to the concoctions created by the latest fad chefs on TV.

We had an aebbleskivver pan in our kitchen on the wall (like a lot of houses in the Sixities) that was for decoration. It wasn't till I was in my forties, and the pan had been long gone, that I bothered to find out what it was for. And those little pastries are wonderful.

David, you're welcome!

Pete, the recipe for æbleskiver from scratch is indeed not very different from buttermilk pancakes I guess. Whether you bake American pancakes, European pancakes, poffertjes, æbleskiver or crepes, it's all more or less the same. I guess for one the batter needs to be a bit thicker than the other.
