Seeburg DDS-1 speakers.

DDS for Discotheque Dance Speaker.

They were introduced in about 1964 or 1965 for use with Seeburg's Discotheque jukeboxes.

Seeburg marketing came up with entire Disco packages for dance spots, including jukeboxes, speakers, wall banners, advertising material, coasters, and pre-fab dancefloors.

No doubt they're Seeburg home stereo speakers. Selectomatic will hunt you down and snatch them! Congratulations on post #300 of this fascinating thread! Sylvania is another fascinating name brand, I have an excellent late '60s BSR mini-changer Sylvania system, sans radio, that has two tiny air suspension speaker cubes. I paid $30.00 more than 15 years ago for it, I suspect it may have been a NOS store display from our Sylvania dealer.

the Seeburg "Disco" speakers look a lot like Altec Lansing speakers-wonder if AL built those for Seeburg?I have used similar speakers in broadcast studios at the agency where I work-they were in some of the older studios. The speakers were AL-also I had some of those under my shop workbench there as test speakers-were GREAT-repaired one of the tweeter horns-one wire in it was burned out from a previous user.

Hi fonografmaniac, I tried to watch your '67 Magnavox portable videos, but the computer wouldn't cooperate. I'm the resident Magnavox nut, and I'm still waiting for my fancy portable from eBay I bought on August 15. I gotta lotta Magnavox, I love it!

I found your videos last night when I went YouTubing for Magnavox, and then I found the one here. I finally got a chance to view some, the computer cooperated.

63getelevision, i have another magnavox micromatic record changer. itz from 1969 and itz the same exact changer on your 1969 unit, but itz the type of unit you hooked to a receiver or a stereo. got it off ebay, but it need a needle. once i take care of that, i'll make a vid of it.

Welcome Fonografmaniac

I'm Jasonlava on Youtube. I'm glad you found us.

Well, moving to Tennessee has become a blessing in diguise.

I'm going to meet with a man here in Crossville who might have something that I might want to look at.

The brand: Seeburg.

63getelevision, i have the rca victor sound in space lp, but i don't have a victrola to play it in so i played it on my 1978 fisher belt-drive turntable.

Fono, I have about 5 copies of "Sounds In Space". It's so '50s! The most appropriate set I have for that piece is a '59 Magnavox console, without radio. Here are some of my demos with other stuff.

determining the age of a magnavox micromatic/collaro record

well, for those out there who's unsure of the age of your magnavox micromatic/collaro changer here's how to find out. find the data sticker located under your changer usually white, green or red colored. find the ref. # thatz the date code. it contains the year and week of manufacture. example: ref. # 6709 the unit was mfgd on the 9th week of 1967.

Ref Sansui speakers

Ref: Sansui speakers in my basement. Yes, those are Sansui speakers, but they are not connected to any jukebox. They are connected to a Sansui receiver that is also in the basement. I purchased the Sansui equiptment in 1982. A friend was stationed in Germany while in the service, and I was able to purchase the entire set for $1000.00. It was worth much more than I paid for it. I do not know how that all worked, and I never did. I sent a money order to my friend in Germany for $1000.00, and I can recall thinking that I may not ever get anything!! Well, one afternoon I came home from work, and the entired stereo set was sitting on my front porch!! (I couldn't believe it was still there, I live in the hood!!) The system was unopened, and in the original Sansui cartons.
I still have the Sansui today, but only have pixs of the speakers. The cabinets have 7 speakers in each, and the woofers are 17&1/2 inch. They bang! <:
