Anyone Into Vintage Appliance Catalogs?

Holy highway robbery Batman! I just looked at that last link Launderess posted. Sometimes I think eBay auctions need a "Go To Hell!" button that buyers can click to anonymously let sellers know when their starting prices are way out of line.

Right or wrong.. I sent the seller a message asking.....

..... Are you just showing off your catalog collection or are you actually trying to sell them? The reason I ask is, your prices are absolutely absurd!

Sellers answer: To the people who low ball me because they can't afford them, I'm just showing them off. :o)

Geeze!

"To the people who low ball me because they can't afford them"

Umm I could "afford" all of them, but sanity keeps me from completing the transaction... The seller is a jerk!

The later link Launderess posted was interesting. I looked at the sellers store and all the catalogs/brochures listed had the word "asbestos" in common. I wonder if they figure that perhaps they might be purchased for a liability court case?

The seller sounds like an a$$hole (oops - can I say that in this forum?).

I can't imagine what would motivate a buyer to pay that kind of price for any of those documents. I'm flabbergasted.

Drooling

The price is high though. Id think we are the only ones who might by those at that price and the word is might.

$20 each would be reasonable for those if he really wanted cash.

Im so into those being saved that if the price is more reasonable I would consider us starting a donation on this sight. UUGGGhhhh the best is always out of reach :(

You A'int Getting Eighty-Eight Cents Outta Me Rose

While one does appreciate the sentiment behind the thought, wouldn't give a penny to this seller after learning of his behavior. Giving him the asking price will only act as an encouragement.

Wow

This is absolutely ridiculous, this person does not even deserve to have an eBay account and does not deserve to get a dime out of any of these catalogs. After reading the message that he sent back to u revvinkevin its for sure he won't be gettin a penny from me. I did however make an offer on the 1983 ge catalog of $20.00 and it was instantly rejected. There is no returns or I would buy a couple, scan them and send them straight back like digapony suggested!

This guy must have closed his account out or something, the link above wont work and none of his items pop up on eBay when u try to search an item!

Did the EBay idiot close his accoun and TRASH the catalogs becuase no one wanted to pay designer prices for them? And the $00 flyer in the other link is CRAZY!!!Look around at various places--you just might find some of these catalogs for FREE!

Yea that's what I was thinking, I mean I don't mind to pay 10 15 dollars but come on in the triple digits haha he's funny!!!

Mornin Y'all

Have to get ready for work but no, the seller didn't get chucked off eBay or any such thing. Just that his auction for appliance catalogs ended (not one sold) so you cannot see them as completed listing unless you log in as a member.

Seller does have other catalogs/brochures up and yes they are equally expensive.

That seller has some sort of fetish for asbestos-maybe he has been breathing too much of it in pricing his items. The Navy manuals-bought SEVERAL at a used book store for only like $4.00 each! For things like that look in junk shops or used bookstores-sometimes the bookstore may give them to you for free if you buy other books or for only a few dollars.

Maybe the EBay bozo will figure out his prices are too high? And what is his thing for Asbestos?Sounds like he might have some good material-but it is just too expensive to remotely consider. And another thought go to a REALLY old appliance store-esp if you are a good customer to them and ask--you just might get material like this for---FREE!

Why not consider an "Automatic Ephemera", like here

Miss seeing those brochures & not all the pages I think were viewable...

I agree, posting them on a Website would garner more cash...! (*Like here?*)
