I'm so upset... I have an old Waring ice cream maker (model 11cf29) and the plastic lid that goes over the metal canister has cracked in the freezer. I got the thing for free and it matches my Moulinex food processor beautifully... I can not find a replacement part anywhere online. It seems that since they no longer make ice cream makers, the part isn't going to be very easy to find. Any advice in which direction to look would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome Bobby~

It's so great to see another member from the Greater Orlando area. You may want to e-mail AndrewinOrlando. he seems to have the answer to everyone's problems. (LOL)

Good Luck

thanks

Thanks for your response... I'd hate to pitch the thing! Yes... I saw your location and Andrews on another thread... I'm more into vacuums, so I don't come over here too often, but I always enjoy the read when I do.

be patient and

In the meantime, is your interest purely as a collector or do you actually use this?
If you use it and don't mind it being "non-original" for the few weeks or months until one shows up on ebay, why not take the pieces to a local machine shop and see about having a new lid milled?
It isn't the same as the "real" thing, and if this sounds like hereisy in your ears, forget it.
Every time I've gone that route, every single time, the original part showed up at a flea market or in someone's attic soon thereafter.

I'm kind of a purist with appliances... I like original parts, but the only thing I collect is vacuums. I use my mixer, food processor and ice cream maker! Would a machine shop be able to fabricate transparent plastic? It was my thought that they only worked on metal objects. From the responses here and my vain efforts to find a replacement, that may be my only option. Thanks

I have that Waring machine, got it new when they first came out way back in the late 70's. Keeping it though.. but I have seen them from time to time at thrift shops etc. so I'll grab you one for parts if'n I see another one anytime.

thanks

I am considering junking it or trying to repair the lid with some kind of plastic weld... It doesn't look like it's possible to find a replacement.

I have a disabled Waring ice cream maker, too. I'm not sure it's the same as yours, though, because you mentioned putting the can in the freezer. On mine, you put ice, water, and salt in an outer bucket around the cream can, so I think mine might be a little older. I really liked this machine; it made great ice cream, and I used it for about 20 years. Unfortunately, the seal at the bottom of the outer bucket recently gave out so that water leaks out. I had to retire it. I, too, haven't been able to find anything about the machine or replacment parts. I think we may be out of luck.

we have the same one

They only made one or two models and they were almost identical with the differences being purely cosmetic... I think the cheaper one was just a plug in and didn't have the on off slide switch. They apparently also had a citrus juicer attachment.

I put the can in the freezer to store it... I didn't even think about transferring it to something else... I think that's why the plastic lid cracked. It's not supposed to go into the freezer. I gave my Rival away when I got this one and now I'm kicking myself! Let's work out a deal where we trade by mail the working parts on each of our machines... then we can each have ice cream every other week... LoL... kidding of course :o) I can't believe how impossible it is to find such a simple part.
