Anyone Looking For A Frigidaire Project?

WV-35 Frigidaire

The knob and escutcheon colors are throwing us off (blue vs yellow), but this would be a 1955. They restyled the controls for 1956.

And - is it possible, and I could be wrong, that this has a porcelain cabinet? Not like anything we’ve seen so far.

Clearly someone has been working very hard getting this, “ready for restoration.” Not all vintage appliances out there are. Sadly some are clean, rust free, and functional, leaving the purchaser the chore introducing obstacles to overcome. Say, leaving the machine outside for a few years, or in a damp basement, or other methods of proper preparation. With this machine such sesioning will be unnecessary.
And this is especially true of vintage cars which are often advertised as being “ready for restoration.” Painstaking efforts have been taken to ensure the vehicle will be a proper money pit, leaving it’s new owner broke and cursing as they attempt to turn back the hands of time.

First WV-45 shown here!

Wow, this is a 1955 Pulsamatic model WV-45 ! It's the same as the WV-35, but with blue controls instead of yellow and it has an all porcelain cabinet which looks dirty but would probably clean up well if it doesn't have much chipping. We've never seen a WV-45 posted here before, only the WV-35.

Wow, the updated photos on the auction, as well as the tub photos that Robert posted, paint a much better picture of the Pulsamatic. I was hoping to see the model tag - love that they put the word "SPECIAL" after the model number. The blue trim and knobs really make a statement!

Has anyone seen any literature for this?

Hopefully someone saves it!

Ben

Hey Ben, I just did a quick OCR text search in the parts catalog. The only difference that shows up between the part numbers for the WV-35 and the WV-45 are the following four parts:

Dial-Control
Dial Selector-Switch
Name Plate
Cabinet

I don't seem to remember seeing any other documentation on the WV-45 besides what is in the parts catalog. I wonder why they bothered to change the color from yellow to blue on the "Special" model? I love the fact that they did that, just seems odd and an extra expense.

I’m a seven hour drive from there. Looks to me about the same condition as the ‘54 Sherwood Green Frigidaire I picked up for free a couple months ago...hoping to get to that project in a few months. I have the same problem with the control dial — frozen and won’t budge.

This time of year

Likely aren't too many shippers coming out of Oregon on UShip. That is the maddening thing about the service, one has to take what one can get when available.

C&F *may* not be an option, that is if there isn't a franchise location near the seller, then you are out of luck. C&F offices cover certain defined territories and rarely venture outside for neither love nor money. Well suppose if someone was willing to pay a premium over their already high rates.....
