Anyone own a Frigidaire dishwasher model FDCD2413US2A ? Thoughts ?

Hi all. So after moving into my new home in June I have been using this dishwasher quite a bit...mostly when I invite folks over for a meal.

I have to say that after 30 years with the Whirlpool portable, this Frigidaire cleans very well also. I'm quite pleased with the performance overall. I like the fact it uses a thunderbolt style wash arm instead of that ridiculous flimsy circular looking thing they were using.

While definitely not the power of the old powerclean this one isn't too shabby.

My major quibble is how the tub is wet inside afterward even using heated dry. Maybe so the plastic don't dry out and crack...I don't know but for what it is it does very well with cascade original pods with dawn.

How long it will last who knows but LORD willing it will be quite awhile.

Loading isn't as good as the Whirlpool was but it is pretty spacious inside.

All the kitchen appliance are Frigidaire and the washer and dryer are Amana.Maybe over the weekend I will try and do a Bobload and post the results.

Have a buddy this model or a step above as his offers sani-rinse option.

He has used his heavily for maybe 3 years as a garbage disposal ( as I raised him right, on a portable powerclean as well haha), well he never takes the lower wash arm support/filter out and leaves chuncks of old food trapped under the door - load after load and his still washes well. Exception for his tall glasses as he is a horrible random dish stacker

The powerclean Id let my buddy use - was also around 30 years old and he used that for few years even as the top rack had rusted through allowing the wash arm support to fall off!

He claimed the powerclean still washed great with no top wash arm and sold it for 45.00 haha

Nice to hear. Unfortunately I had to let go of the powerclean, but I never had any rusting of the porcelain tub or of the racks.

It really only got used for holidays and when I made a lot of food during the weekends.

This Frigidaire came with the home and all the appliances are brand new. First time using a SXS Fridge and I think I want to dump it for either a French door or a good basic Whirlpool top freezer model.

Getting back to the dishwasher, i am quite pleased with the performance. The silverware basket feels very sturdy and the fact it has a plastic tub and door doesn't bother me in the least. My powerclean had a plastic door.

I would love one of the new Maytag or KA models but since this machine cleans great I see no reason to switch it out. I don't prerinse and lightly scrape like I did with the Whirlpool.

Basic cycles but the 2 full sized wash arms clean everything satisfactory.

Do these machines use more rinse aid during final rinse ? I could smell it but man there were no spots on my glassware.

So far I have been using the cascade pods and they work very well.I want to switch back to powder though when this stash runs out. I can load this thing up pretty well but I have to say my Whirlpool had better racking. Things were more securely in place it seemed. Though I have no real gripe. I'm just thankful to the LORD I have one.

Well I’ve only used a Frigidaire dishwasher once. A hotel I worked at had it installed in the kitchen, we used it wash breakfast dishes. There wasn’t anything very dirty except for waffle battle...I never felt that it would have done a great job on a full load of really dirty dishes. Build quality was meh as well. Hopefully the newer machines are better.

When I moved into my new apartment there was a BOL plastic tub whirlpool that had the same problem, even with heated dry the interior and most of the dishes where still wet. If any of the cycle or options offer a heated final rinse that may help the problem.

I had a Frigidaire Gallery dishwasher about 20 years ago.

 

It worked OK for a while, but then the plastic filter disk (about 12" diameter) at the bottom started warping, which let food debris into the recirculation pump, which then would clog the spray arms.

 

Finally after about three years the damn thing had its drain pump fail.

 

I replaced it with a Bosch, which is still running today.

 

I don't know if your plastic filter will warp, but it does appear to be similar to the one in mine; the difference is that it looks like yours is recessed so maybe it won't warp.

My experience with two separate Frigidaire dishwashers is they work well but then after five years the main wash motor dies. The racks also started rusting after about 3 years.

Hey there. I had an upgraded version of your Frigidaire with the top controls and towel bar. It did a great job until, the flimsy circular thing stopped moving in less than a year. I thought maybe it's the filter, so I took that out and cleaned it. Still had the problem. So I googled it, and it turns out it's a common problem, due to a design flaw. I replaced it with one of the thunderbolt wash arms from Amazon, and it worked great! I used rinse-aid on a low setting, but I always tried to open the door after it finished, and it dried much better. Washing was great, lots of water changes on the Normal cycle. Have since yanked it out to go into a rental property, and replaced with a Maytag. Yours is a great dishwasher for the price.

Yeah lovestowash it is a great cleaning machine and the only other dishwasher I ever owned was the Whirlpool portable quiet wash. Coming from the Whirlpool I ha e to say the Frigidaire impresses me. My glassware shines with no water spots. As I mentioned though this Frigidaire's racks aren't as good as Whirlpool but they are
Still alright.

Traditional spray arms designed well do the job. I hope they put the thunderbolt style in their higher up machines. Does a great job.

Would be nice if the interior dried better though.

Are all plastic tub machines like that .

One of the families I clean for has the previous version of that machine (white interior and gray wash arms) and it seems to do a decent job without being too noisy. The racks, especially the top rack could use some redesigning but for a low end machine I've been pretty impressed with it.. I know it gets heavy use everyday, I usually load and run it every 2 weeks when I'm there to clean and I haven't noticed any major problems with it.

Cycle time for normal is a couple of hours or so. I'll have to time it but I know on my old portable Whirlpool that the normal cycle from start to finish was usually around 2 hours.

Being this is my first built in I'm not so conscience of it because it isn't rolled up to the sink so time isn't a factor for me. I saw this machine in Lowes for $300 plus.

So far it's been great but I will reserve judgement for now and be cautiously optimistic.
