Ok.........well we all know about the Apex now. Just so I can clear this all up in one little posting here is the knack of it all. I'm pretty new to the whole washer collecting thing. I have a few machines that I've gotten from either friends or from ebay or so forth. My geniuneness has been called into question as to my knowledge about the Apex. I didn't know how rare they were.....I simply knew that it was a top load model and as I've decided to collect mainly combo's and front load machines. Now for the anger and sheer disappointment in some of the people on this site. I recieved two e-mails today from two different members of this site both long time members at that accussing me of making this all up and of using the machine to recieve sexual favors from Robert! I am so hurt at this moment I could cry! If it wasn't for Roberts happiness I would take a SLEDGE HAMMER to that Apex and to everything else in that building for sheer vengence and pain!!! I HAVE NEVER in my life been made to feel like how I feel right now. I will be contacting Robert to have him delete all of my posts from this site and to also delete me from it as well. I wish to recieve no further e-mails from anyone. I will be giving all of the contents of the building to Robert FOR NOTHING!!!!!!!!! mind you and he can devide them how he wishes.

I wish you wouldn't go. I can't believe that someone would suggest such an insane thing. I mean, whats the thinking? Do these people think that Robert is going to come to get his dream machine, discover its not there, and then give you a roll in the hay as a consolation? A consolation for ~his~ busted dreams? the logic, or rather, the lack thereof, is simply stunning.
Why not just post the emails and point out the dolts who said such insane things? Nothing better than sunlight to disinfect this wound.
I'm new here too. I don't post a lot, I don't have the room for a collection, and I'm not sure I'd want one. I would love a few choice machines that would earn their keep in my laundry room. So maybe i'm not hardcore or anything, but I think its awesome to see the folks with huge collections and I applaud them for keeping alive a little piece of what would be otherwise forgotten history. If it brings you joy, then its a good thing. John, it seems like you have made a lot of people happy here, including Robert.
So i'd urge you to shrug off the slings. I know it must suck to be blamed for such an outrageous thing, but you and I and anyone else like us, including the good folks on this board, are thrilled for Robert, thrilled that you've made him a happy man and that you've done so selflessly.
Those folks who would claim such a thing are just petty twits with nothing else better to do than rain on a perfectly nice parade. They aren't giving Robert much credit either, which is sad.
Don't let it get you down, buddy. Just laugh in their faces.

There are always a few weirdos anytime you have a gathering of humans. Don't let them win. Years ago I experienced some unwarranted harassment from a former member through emails and postings on another web group. I am glad I didn't let that stop me from enjoying this website and the people on it. I would forward these emails to Robert so he knows who these twerps are and let him deal with them as webmaster.

Boy is this sad news all right. John I’m so very sorry that a few pathetic individuals had to make you feel so bad with their nonsense. Please know that there are so many great, fun people in this club and we wouldn’t want you to leave us just because of a few rotten apples. 99% of the people here are not like that, many of us have met and have built lasting friendships over the years, I can’t tell you how much I cherish the friends I’ve made here.
In case any one is wondering, I spoke to John over the phone on both Sunday and Monday and he knows exactly what he saw. He described it the Apex to me perfectly, enough said period. John has been so incredibly kind, generous and unselfish it really saddens me to know that there are a couple of people inside Applianceville that would treat him this way.

Even though I've not had the pleasure to actually meet the folks on this sight, I cannot tell you how many hours of enjoyment this site has brought. I can't agree more with that advice.
A while back, I had lost my dog and someone on the site posted a You Tube that was in total distaste and disrespect about a dead dog floating in a pool. I took this personally right after the death of my beloved pet and emailed the person who posted to retract the post. I had so many of these wonderful AW 'friends' come to my rescue, that it touched my heart.
I know it only takes a few individuals to spoil it for everyone, but keep your chin up and look at all the good these diverse people do for each other with support and help on all subjects. I believe you could not find a more genuine and caring group anywhere. We are 'support' for each other in times of need whether it be death or the frantic search of a vintage appliance.
So please put those vicious individuals into perspective, and, look at the overall picture.
I thank a higher being every day to have found a loving and caring 'extended family' who's name happens to be Automatic Washer and who resides in Applianceville.
From the bottom of my heart I thank everyone for your kindness.

Let me also tell you about some of the good people here.
Last year we had a convention at Greg's (Gansky) house in Omaha. I really wanted to go, but airplane tickets don't grow on banana trees and I was mired in a (failing) business here on the most expensive island on earth. I whined online about my financial inability to attend the convention. Lo and behold, another member contacted me and offered to pay my way to the convention. I went ahead and bought my tickets. Sure enough, this member sent me a check to cover my airfare and lodging. I hope by the time the next convention rolls around I can pay it forward and do the same for some one else.
Not long after, I realized that my business, Appliance Garage was indeed NOT happening. Again, I lamented about this here. Another member stepped up and sent me a check for $1000. Dennis (my partner) cried when he saw that. I was stunned by the kindness and it sure helped us get through a really bad time.
So yeah, there are some catty bitches who hang around here, but most the folks here are the nicest you would ever want to meet. Don't leave us because of a few idiots

As I mentioned before in a previous post, I have never been involved in a group that generates such warmth and friendship as this one. Within a hour of being at my first wash-in, I felt that I had known the attendees for years. These contacts continued after the wash-in, whether it be in the form of in-person contact, phone calls, or e-mails.
During my recent personal problems of separating with my partner, I started a thread about that subject at a very low point in my life. I could not believe the outpouring of support I received. People I had never met or spoke to sent genuine notes of concern -- something I will never forget.
As far as Robert getting the Apex, doesn't he deserve it??? The work that he does for us keeping this site running is unbelieveable. He is to be commended for his work. I couldn't be happier for him to receive a "dream machine" in his collection.
Don't let one or two bad apples spoil it for you. Stay with us.

Just a thought I got while reading thru this thread-Say you find a particular machine another member is hunting for-before announcing the find-communicate with the person you want to pass the machine to by private EMail and work it out with him before you annouce it.May prevent problems of this sort.

Are very VERY sad!
My interest lays mainly in vacuums and yes I know several guys who I count as fantastic friends who own models I would give parts of my anatomy to own- HOWEVER I know in a lot of cases they have paid far more than I would have done to get them and deserve to have them.
Ive not been here long and only know 4 guys (who I knew before anyhow!) but have got the impression so far its a great place to "hang out"- unfortunatly the chances of me actually meeting anyone in person are pretty remote what with being in the UK but its cool to have "Long distance" friends.
I would be tempted to "name and shame" whoever is responsible, but as you say it may be difficult if someone has hacked a user name
