Hi All! Just crawled out of my clamshell to add my two cents worth....

If this is indeed true, the person or persons should most definitely be revealed for all of us to see. With any luck at all, they will disappear from the forum or should be banned.

This kind of behaviour doesn't belong in grade school, much less in an interest group such as ours!

What difference does it make "who" finds or has the appliance. The great thing about this forum is that we all get to "share" the treasure!! We are privileged to see pictures of the find, be a part of its restoration, and witness its "maiden" wash! Sometimes, we actually get to experience these things in person during wash-ins and conventions! I think some people tend to forget that the goal is to rescue and save these rapidly disappearing appliances from the krusher, not to hoard, flaunt, or be envious. What a pity that some who consider themselves "washer enthusiasts" display such childish behaviour.

My advice: Do not let them intimidate you into leaving! This is such a wonderful place!!

i hope Robert has the email addys/isp of the offenders. nothing to cause a ruckus over. mark the emails as junk and ignore. the sender was prolly DRUNK when he wrote them and perhaps should confess to the person he sent them to, or Robert.
 
John, it is really sad to hear that someone harassed you in such away - it really is a shame. I hope you are able to look past those futile words and are able to enjoy the good natured conversations that we all have together. Robert's site is a wonderful place, and I hope you stay.

I'm sorry John that this happened to you. You certainly didn't deserve such a treatment. I agree with the others that the people who sent you those mails should be exposed. There are always "trolls" around websites who find a liking in causing quarrels and negative feelings between members. Don't listen to them, they don't deserve getting what they want.

Such people don't belong on this website and don't deserve our friendship. Please reconsider and stay here, other people have already testified what a wonderful group this is.

Please stay with us John! There is always at least one rotton apple. Just ignore them, and enjoy this wonderful site with us. We have such a great group of people here, and you would look forward to making some fantastic friends with us. Do not let two jackasses spoil it for you! Please give the rest of us a chance. Hey, if I had found that Apex, you bet I'd try to trade it for "favors" from Robert! I mean, puh-leeze--did you SEE that picture of him last week? Swoon!

(Okay, no I really wouldn't have. It's just plain wrong, even I know that. And a married man, especially. That's just reprehensible. We're talking Go to Hell. Go Straight to Hell. Do Not Pass Go, Do Not Collect Two Hundred Dollars.

But still, that picture...)

Anyway, John, don't leave us because a couple of insecure, egomaniacal assholes are trying to stir things up. I'd say that 99.9% of the members here are people who'd take a bullet for each other.

The others are beneath our contempt.

And it's those others who are doing it because they want attention. Okay guys, you want attention? John, go ahead and post the emails--and don't forget to include the headers (email me if you don't know how.)

They'll get the attention they're looking for, oh yes.

No Way To Put It Back

Just like squeezing toothpaste from tube, there is no way to put it back, once its out. No words can adequately portray the essence of who Robert is or what a truly fine and deserving human being he is. The work, joy and selfless giving he provides for this site and all it's members is exponential. Robert does not deserve to be embroiled in this muck raking any more than do you. I can not imagine what it must feel like to be sucker punched after such a geniune and generous offer. The whole moment is forever tainted. Just like a terrorist, the work of a depraved individual has forever changed the feeling of safety we have for so long enjoyed. Washers.org has been a haven and respite for us all who have never before had a venue to fully appreciate our combined love of collecting, restoring, nurturing, stewarding and shepherding the great legacy of dazzling technology never dreamt possible. my sincerest hope, is that you can accept this in no way minimizises the greatest moment ever shared in this group. Each of us adore, idolize and wish the best for Robert. The Knight in Shining Honor who brought him the gift of the Maggi Apex, will long be venerated here.
It is sad to know our safe domain is infiltrated with terrorist trash, but know that the ones of us who care and matter will forever surround you with a legion of support.

but I can understand how you feel. I went through a similar situation a while back. It still bothers me somewhat, but it's in the past and I am happy to have started posting after a while. Please don't leave as there are way more positives than negatives.

To read of the Apex find, and I still am. It's just sad that the one thing our webmaster has asked and probably searched the U.S. over for, has turned into such a disrespectful episode. My bet is on discretion and the quiet deletion of a couple of members. It would take a giant leap of stupidity, to do such a thing as send the e-mails that have been mentioned. Robert created and maintains this site, wrote the complicated code for it, that we all appreciate daily. John the finder kudos to you. Have a feeling there may be few people that we may never hear from again. I do hope this all turns out ok the Apex in Mn, John keeps membership and the rest of it like it never even happened. It's just wrong. alr2903
 
I can't add anything more to what has already been well said, other than I agree the perps should be disclosed and outsted from this site. There is no room for such antics.....
 
John, please stay! It's the integrity of members like you who make this sight great. It's irritating when malicious people try to ruin the fun for everyone else, so just ignore the idiots who sent you those e-mails; they don't speak for the rest of us.

what else can be said

i'm still new here and love this site for the reasons it was created. robert has done and continues to do an outstading job of maintaing this site for all of us, it is certainly a shame for people not to appreciate it. i agree these scumbags should be ousted, and of course for curiostity sake would like to know who they are, but relize that for the sake of keeping this site professional it might be best if robert deletes them quietly, regular members will fiqure it out who it is. there is just no reason for this kind of behavior amongst friends,especially adults. this is child like behavior, which there is no room for here. john don't let these bad memebers ruin it for you, they have already ruined it for themselves. if people would think about the outcome of there actions, the world would be happier place. jeolusy (spelling) is the route of all evil. good luck with the apex robert.
 
Congrats

Glad Uni found his dream machine. It is the lucky machine that finds a home in Robert's basement. Can't wait to see photos of the restoration in progress. Perhaps this could be the candidate for a "See-It-Wash" dvd with the proceeds being split with John.

John, I've been watching the threads for the past few days and am begining to wonder who the people were that sent you the emails that you mentioned at the begining of this thread. I know a lot of the guys in this club and quite honestly, I can't imagine that anyone would do anything like this. If they truely did, then you need to fess up as to who they are. I'm really begining to wonder about this whole thing though. So far, I've not seen any evidence of ANY MACHINES other than your descriptions in the previous post. You've had two days now to post this information and so far, nothing. Are you playing a cruel joke on the club and Robert, in particular? If you're not, then fess up. I think it's time to put up or shut up. Mark

If anyone didn't already know us, they would be certain we were all rocking on the front porch of the "Aging Actresses Home" waiting for Robert to levitate for us or perhaps walk on water.

O.K. we all acknowledge that there are some rectums among us-----they ain't right either but what can you do? Just cuss 'em out and go on and thats all you can do.

And whats all this about trading sexual favors for washing machines? Yeah right, like no one amongst us ever had that thought cross their mind. Specifically what type of machine? Hmmmmmmm.

So John just remember who the people are that sent those e-mails to you. One day you might meet them face to face and you can really have some fun!

You should stay with us no matter what!

Hi everyone, I just want to make it quite clear that I spoke to John again tonight and he is going to forward me those two nasty emails. When I get the emails I will try to determine the source starting with the IP addresses in the headers as well as the style of the writing, when I can figure out who did it they will be banned for good.

I certainly believe him when he says that he has found an Apex as he has described to me in great detail. He has no reason to make this up. I think the outpouring of support today was just marvelous and shows what a great group we have here! I think we will all be together for a very long time.
