Here is a different meat loaf I like, The recipe comes from Mrs Laura Dula who was a great friend of my Mother and I,the widow of a prominent Lenoir doctor, I thought her house was the most beautiful thing I ever saw as a child, built in 1948, it had the first heat pump in Lenoir, anyway, she published this recipe in the First United Methodist Church cookbook in 1979..
2 1/2 pounds ground beef
1 1/2 cups Pepperidge Farms herb seasoned stuffing mix.
1 minced onion
2 tsp mustard
3/4 cup ketchup
2 cups peeled and sliced golden delicious apples"Pour lemon juice over while slicing"
3 eggs
Mix all together well, bake in large loaf pan 1 1/2 hours at 350,..I top it with ketchup.

Sounds good!

Next time I go marketing, I'll get the ingredients I don't have (Pepperidge stuffing, and Golden Delicious apples), and I will make this.

I might add some strips of apple smoked bacon to the top.

re Apples..

You are supposed to slice them, but the next time I make it i think I will chop them, it does have a tendency to fall apart, but it really is good and different.

Sounds delish!

I also love a good meat loaf and will certainly try this one. I will also chop the apples and Lawrence I love the thought of putting some bacon on the top... I mean how can you go wrong with bacon!! :-)!!!

Yum!

I love meatloaf and had to try this. I used half ground pork and half ground beef, chopped the apples, subbed Dijon mustard and added bacon to the top. It was soooo good!!

Delish sounding/looking

Sweet bits are sometimes a great inclusion in savory items, especially, it seems, those made with beef. Rich's dad puts raisins in his meatballs and my grandmother always put chopped green grapes in meatloaf. Yum!
