Appliance "Junkyard"
Hi Sugarartist,
If you are looking for vintage appliances for your future home, you will probably have better luck with Craigslist(.org) or dare I say, eBay.
While they may have a few older appliances in pretty good condition that are for sale, the majority of what they have (dating back to the 50's), have been sitting out there under the Arizona sun for many years and have paid the price because of it.
Suggestions if you plan to visit: If you approach the owners on a good day, they may let you walk around out in the yard to check things out. However if the owners are not there and you talk to anyone else, they will turn you away saying: "Due to our insurance, we cannot allow you out in the yard." Believe me, I know. Also don't bother trying to make "make an appointment" for a walk thru, even if you talk to the owners on the phone about it, if you show up and the owners are not there, you will probably be turned away. Again, I know from our, at times, frustrating experience. Internal communication, or a lack of, seems to be common there.
But don't get me wrong, as you can see from the photos in the link below, it's a VERY neat place with a LOT of really NEAT machines! A great place for parts and if you happen to have your own tools, they may let you pull the parts yourself.
Anyway, the place is called Appliance Express and their address is 5850 Market Street Glendale, AZ and they do not appear to have a website.
Good luck!
Kevin
And BTW.... Welcome to AW! I hope you enjoy what you see here and stay a while!
