I don't think this was shared here before, at least I saw this for the first time. The video is on Youtube since 2011. It's an Art Installation.

"Arranged like a symphony orchestra, approximately 200 antique vacuums, mixers and washers are transformed into musical instruments. They form an ensemble that the conductor, harpsichordist and composer Michael Petermann, alias weiserrausch.de, has now completed after eight years of preparation: The Stupid Orchestra."

Watch it full screen!

Many years ago Barbara Striesand did a television special where she did a song entitled "Music for voice and appliances...", "The World Is A Concerto" Pretty good song actually. I tried to find a copy of it online somewhere, but couldn't find a copy. That was back in 1965. I think the name of the album it appeared on was Barbara Streisand and Other Musical Instruments".

That's quite the orchestra! I love the way it builds to a deafening crescendo toward the end with the vacuums and the spinners going. Cool, indeed.

Thanks for sharing this appliance-inspired bit of culture with us, Louis!

Think I fell asleep to a Hugo Montenegro album & dreamed of an appliance demonstration during "Square Dance" (it was MUSIC FROM 'THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY' that I was listening to), so plenty of Rotisseries, Steamers (which coincided with the furnace making some "blast" as it cycled on) and even Washers, somehow without lids (all in Avocado & boasting "Tappan" & "Maytag")...

So that's what this reminds me of or brings back a memory of... ("Something from something out of HARRY POTTER", I had said; I was asked one of the strangest things I'd dreamed, once... It occurs after 10-minutes into my video in that link, if you're wondering & can maybe visualize it...)
