whats in your garage?

As some of you may know i have won one of my dream machines a Hoover Keymatic (not arrived yet) but then i also won on ebay my other a Hoover Twin tub (again not arrived yet) but this mean a major space issue. The Keymatic is going to live in my mothers utility room (easy access to hook it up) and will keep her youngster 1989 hotpoint company. but the Hoover TT will sit in my kitchen near the Bendix LT. This means i have to store the AEG TT in my garage. I have been working on my other hobby a 1968 Morris minor 2 dr over easter, so i tidied the garage and thought i would show you other parts of my collection that is hidden there.

what a dinky little car. i expect it's very economical! i only have a lawnmower & snowblower in my 1-car garage.

Aha!

I spy an Austin Allegro quartic steering wheel on that garage wall! I drove a 1976 Allegro estate until one year ago, when I needed to get a less nerve-wracking car for the 100 mile drive to see the rest of my family. Oh and one of the front wheels fell of just before one of said journeys, which has put me off old cars a bit.

My Honda-in-drag Rover passed its MOT first time last week though, and I have never had a car do that in fifteen years of motoring! Still can't stop telling people...

I rent a storage unit, but have also managed to secret eight Hoover Juniors away in a cuboard - 'im indoors isn't pleased as I *promised* I'd put them back in storage when the Hoovermatic arrived on the scene, and he found them the other day. Oops! And my wringer washer currently lives in the bin cuboard, along with two HMV electric fires banished there due to flaky asbestos (eek!).

I always have to sneak stuff in. If his lordship isn't standing at the window anytime I drive up he appears out of nowhere when I get in the house to see what I'm bringing in. Now I usually leave stuff in the trunk and get it into the house when I know he's not here..once its in he doesn't have a clue as it all blends in with all the other stuff.. LOL

What a fun garage, I looked at the pictures yesterday and today I see even more I missed. Nice vacuums and Singer-base. Do you have plans for that? I've seen marble or granite used for a table-top, makes a nice plant stand or small desk...

Love the Morris too - what a beauty!

Pturo...

Riley "Elf", by any chance? Also known as "The Mini with the Bustle": referring to the similarity of the Riley's protruding boot (trunk), to an Edwardian lady's padded rump!

74 Simon!

You must be the owner of the "Simon's Skip" website! I found a link to it and really enjoyed it; somehow your priorities as to applicances and cars always made sense to me! Unfortunately Allegros were never sold here, nor was the Citroen GS you mentioned on your site, but I spent my youth abusing a DS on Texas back roads and discovered that you just can't kill it. I am a real fan of non-steel suspensions.

Although we didn't get the Quartic wheel, I do believe Chrysler had some variation on a non-round steering wheel during the "Forward Look" years, about '57-'60. Citroen also went there in '70 for the oval wheel on the SM, which works just fine due to the ultra-fast steering as you never really sense the rim changing in shape since it takes so little movement in the first place.
