Have been playing around with the Ariel "Alpine Fresh" (and how)scented gel one had sent from France, and have a question or two.

First, Ariel has nothing on Tide for creating froth, one has to be very careful in terms of dosing. Which brings us to the second question; how much does everyone use of this stuff? Am very interested in response from those on this side of the pond whom have tried this detergent.

So far it seems anything above the first line in that tiny dispenser cup is just too much. One gets tons of suds and rinsing takes ages.

The lines in the cup could also be a tab bit clearer, at least to my eyes. *LOL*

OTHO, this detergent is *FANTASTIC*. Don't have to pre-treat anyting, and everything comes out clean with stains removed. Do cheat and add a tiny bit of activated oxygen bleach for really badly stained table linen. Red wine stains seem only to vanish totally when bleach is used.

Morning Laundress, Yes, anything above the line = sudz, ...Lol...rule of thumb is half it & a tad more and it will work!!!

What temperature / programme (assuming Miele) did you use it on??

Glad you like it, it seems to have a love/hate relationship here, I use it for refreshing clothes, brill as a floor cleaner, but for stains always use the powder, the new range of stain removers fit well with the gels as you rightly state they dont have bleach etc...

The thinking over here is that Gels are to replace liquids and reduce packaging & transportation costs, and that powders are going "Ultra Compact" BUT with a phased rollout between all manufacturers after the debacle last time with concentrates.

The powders are being concentrated down as we speak, average dose was 160g now its 130g on powders , I find you can use less..

I love Ariel Excel Actilift Gel, I dose the same as Mike exept with whites where I use a bit less and add Vanish Crystal White, if the normal dose of gel is used I get terrible suds lock and my Miele tells me off when the cycle finishes!

I am currently running a load with Aldi's Almat Gel as it was on sale for £2.74, a lot less sudsy in the wash and practically no bubbles in the 1st rinse. Will report back on how it does with cleaning and fabric care when the wash is finished.
