We went and measured the windows Tuesday 23 windows, I think we will be making our own curtains and checking Goodwill and Salvation Army.

This is the front of the house.

Request.

Since I'm a historic preservationist who's passionate about windows and technical stuff, could you take and post a pic of a window from the inside showing the track in which the sash slides up and down?

Lots of potential there, it looks like a fun place to live!

Jim,

That looks like a nice house - if you don't know, it's called a 4-Square. They are quite popular in this area, with several right in my neighborhood. Most I'm aware of were built between about 1905 and 1930. Do you know when yours was constructed?

The black & white bath doesn't look too bad; I've seen a lot worse. I like the black tub & wonder why the sink isn't also. What color is the toilet? And what is that gold color material on the wall?

Please post more pics when you get a chance.

I think the gold material on the wall is either contact paper or wall paper, the toilet is white, the tub surround on the black tub is new to cover up the black tile. The house was built in 1910

The wall behind the door has the same gold material and it's starting to peal at the bottom. I would like to either cover it with something else or possibly paint it, something needs to be done to brighten it up, LOL

Jim congreatulations!! I think it's a very very cute house. Love all the windows in the front. And I have to agree with Lawrence, I think that black tub is very sexy, very hot! but then again, I think black fixtures can be very sexy.

Congrats on your house! Looks like you have lots of room. Does the front porch face east? I really like morning sun & evening shade. alr2903

Hey, the house looks great! You have a reasonable sized yard too - so when's the barbecue/housewarming party??? LOL
The black bathroom is really different - I will be if you get the right accessories, it will look like something out of a designer magazine! Now, here's the big question - are you still doing the kitchen with a Harvest Gold theme??
Also, is that a gas line I saw in the opening for a range in the kitchen??Oh and if you would be interested in any 'vintage' 70s curtains let me know!!

Paul, I'm still doing the harvest gold for the kitchen, with the exception of the stove and fridge, and yes that the gas line for the stove. There is even a water line for the refrigerator, but our fridge doesn't have ice or chilled water.

I'm not sure what direction the porch faces, I'm thinking it is east, but not 100% positive. I like the black and white tile in the bathroom, I even like the black, (there will be no pictures taken of me in the tub! LOL) just don't like what ever is on the walls. The porch has that grass like carpeting on it, but it's black. I would like to find a large oval braided rug to put out there.

I think there is a gas line out back for a grill, and there is a concrete patio, but it has about 3 inches of leaves and crap on it.

Congrats!

You'll be sewing up a storm, if you decide to make curtains for all of those porch windows!

A friend of ours, another drag queen is going to make curtains for us, at no charge since we gave him the sewing machine, all we have to do is buy the material.

I like the older houses better, they have more character. This house is in a historic district and I'm going to with the historic society and see if we can get any type of grant for fixing it up, it doesn't need a whole lot done to it but I thought I would check anyway.

I will get more pictures this weekend.

Where are you registered?

There must be a wish list of accessories, appliances and decor you need to settle in. Give us some hints so we can send housewarming surprises.

Kelly,

I'm following your example by gifting Jim a nice small appliance. Hope to get it in the mail by Weds. at the latest. But, I'll let him divulge the surprise!

Jim-

The stove is a Kenmore. Its pretty decent - has little porcelanized drip pans that can be tossed in the dishwasher.

My only complaint is that black appliances get dusty and show grease much more easily... which I suppose makes me clean them more often, so.
