the thread(s) about the storage bags that are attached to a vacuum cleaner.

After last weekend's cleaning/inventory, I have more towels and bedding than I really need, and am seriously thinking about sending a supply to distant family.

Do these bags really work? Are they worth it? I would think that what they save on shipping space alone......

Going to BB & B tomorrow or Tuesday.

Thank you in advance!

Yes, They Seem To

Friend of mine who sends bags of clothing home to South America for children in want uses those vaccum bags to compact things down.

Thing to remember is that aside from the air surrounding items and or in the bag itself, the textiles must have decent amount of air themselves to reach any good affect. For instance compacting several down filled duvets, wool sweaters or such will more likely give better results than say bed sheets or table linen.

They work quite well.....but as Laundress has noted, I use them for winter jackets and blankets, bulky fluffed items get the most benefit from them, but they do save so much space when compacted....

shop on-line you may find them cheaper......I get mine from Harbor Tools...around 5.00 for a box of 3, either all the same size, or 3 assorted ones....

Space Bags!

We had a few we used for winter comforters. In the spring we put one comforter in each proper sized bag and stored on an upper shelf in the closet. By July the bag had cracked open and the comforter returned to normal size again taking whatever else that was on the shelf down to the floor with it! The plastic literally split.

I'm short on storage space in my home. I have to change out my closets with the season. I've noticed if I store my space bag with winter clothing in the attic the summer heat causes the bag to open; but if I store it downstairs where it's cooler they stay sealed. Once deflated they fit under the bed nicely.

They do work and we have been able to purchase some good ones at Dollar Tree.  If one is close to you they are noramlly but the hangers, clothes pins and the plastic coat or suit bags.  in ur DT it is close to the back.
