How do various washers perform ATC?
F&P IWL12 (a Phase 6 model)
- Cold = tap supply
- Cold+ = 16°C (61°F)
- Warm/Cold = 34°C (93°F)
- Warm = 46°C (115°F)
- Warm/Hot = 51°C (124°F)
- Hot = 69°C (156°F)
F&P AquaSmart WL26CW1 & WL37T26CW (Phase 7)
- Cold Faucet = tap supply
- Cold = 18°C (64°F)
- Warm/Cold = 30°C (86°F)
- Warm = 50°C (122°F)
- Warm/Hot = 56°C (133°F)
- Hot = 62°C (144°F)
IWL12 actively moderates the hot and cold mix to attain the target, it does not alternate between hot, cold, and mixed. I'm not clear on how it does that. The water flow into the tub for Warm, for example, remains at 115°F for the duration if the hot supply is at least 115°F and the cold supply is sufficient to temper it down to 115°F if necessary. The basic "HE" cycle runs the selected temp for Eco Active, cold for deep wash top-off. The entire fill is at the target temp in Conventional Wash mode. The various specialty Lifecycles follow different patterns. Stained/Blood for example is cold for Eco Active, Warm top-off for the agitated wash.
AquaSmart (and EcoSmart WA37T26G which is also Phase 7) alternate between full cold, full hot, and mixed to attain an ATC average. Cold Faucet includes a moment of mixed. Cold+ runs tap cold with some mixed. Warm/Cold, Warm and Warm+ start with full hot flow then alternate with hot and mixed (or mixed and tap-cold for Warm/Cold). Hot presumably would alternate hot and mixed if necessary. My hot flow out of the tankless can't exceed 140°F so mixed doesn't occur. AquaSmart has up to three fill periods depending on the cycle sequence and selected options ... Eco Active saturation, HE level top-off, conventional level top-off. ATC applies to the Eco Active saturation fill. HE top-off varies per the selected cycle and whether conventional mode is selected or involved. Conventional mode top-off is always cold ... except for the Sheets cycle which follows ATC for the entire deep fill. AquaSmart's Lifestyle cycles follow varying temp profiles similar to IWL12's Lifecycles. Stained/Chocolate for example is Warm/Hot for Eco Active, Warm for HE top-off, tap-cold for conventional top-off.
IWL12 has a set-up option for the user to adjust the targets by -6, -4, -2, +2, +4, +6 (presumably that's in °C) across the board (not individually). AquaSmart doesn't have that option.
