The Pope
Hi Chris,
Your email arrived last night, so I will try and put the ad in the post today. I scanned it in and got our marketing guys to touch up some of the creases and wear marks, so for a copy it looks pretty good.
I won the Dame Edna Whirlpool Ad off Ebay yesterday, although I'm still waiting for contact from the seller. I've also gotten some Malley's Ads from 55 and 58 which when I extract a digit I will send to Robert to become POD's. The 55 one talks about double doors and a tumble fluff at the end of the cycle, but the machine is Top loading. It surely couldnt be a H-Axis TL, but unless I ever find one, I guess we'll never know.
The Norge is over at Mums, I'm not allowed to bring it home untill I get rid of one or two of the 6 Whirlies I'm holding onto for spares. I've finally found someone who thinks they might be able to restore the timer off my Late 50's whirlpool, and then I should be able to start the rebuild. (The Mains contact on the bottom of the timer had just disintergrated.) I've got most of the parts, but things like Wigwag solenoids etc are NLA in australia, and I cant get them from the US because of the voltage differences.
I find it's easier to keep the parts in the cabinet, (With the spares) as they are nice and stackable.
I havent seen the interior of the Norge yet, the back was too oily for me to be up to the challenge of removing at that stage. Its something I will get around to though, as the porcelein top is mint.
On a different note, My daily driver BD whirly is about to go up to my Mother in Laws to compliment her aging rattley DD Whirlpool. In its place in Brisbane will be a Miele W2515, it arrives on Tuesday next week, along with a new F&P fridge, and I'm getting rather excited
I love my whirlpool, but the price of water has just gone up this quarter inline with our heavier water restrictions, (We now only have hosing on what were sprinkler days) (Lake Wivenhoe is down to 29% capacity) so I figured I should do my bit for the environment, I chose the Miele as they claim it should be good for 20+ years.
Because it's fixed price, I bought it from non big box appliance shop, it was a wonderful experience. Talking to the Lady who was helping me, she has a 7yo Miele, which has washed nappies for 4 children, and now averages 4-5 90deg washes a day in her salon.
It broke down about 12 months ago, (Off balance sensor broken, $500 repair) when the service tech checked the computer, the machine had been running for 18,000 hours. Apparantly the 20 years they suggest it will be good for is based on the following formula.
2 hour wash cycle,
5 cycles per week
50 weeks of the year
20 years
Equals 10,000 hours. So the fact that she got 18,000 hours out of the machine prior to any issues arrising is pretty amazing.
With the new Miele's for daily wear, you get complete a cycle in 40-60 minutes, which in theory should double the life of the machine.
Anywho, enough rambling, I will get your ad in the post today.
I would like it if you could send me a copy of the Keymatic ad please.
Regards
Nathan
