Lol thats kinda fun and sad. Look at the photos she posted of the machine. What can you say? Fun thing about that the display showed "error". Uh yeah. Error.....

I believe the out-of-balance spin sensor is not as efficient as the manufacturers claim.

I had an AEG from 1998, in which I washed synthetic fibre pillows. The machine passed through the cycle okay, until the final spin. The drum was rotating slowly (measuring the degree of out-of-balance), then with a TERRIFIC jump, it leapt into spin. There was a horrible scraping sound, and I pulled the plug.

It turned out that the whole tub assembly jumped vertically, causing the drum lip to gouge a score/groove in the bottom of the door glass.

I suspect that that particular incident, contributed to the drum bearing failure a couple of years later. :-/

On our miele absolutely no problem whatsoever. It can pretty much handle anything and never goes out of balance. Although, I think the sheer size of the huge cast iron weights in the machine help quite a lot. It seems to just slowly ramp up to a full 1600rpm spin without any problems at all.

I'm renting a place with a pretty crappy whirlpool washer-dryer and it often skips the spin cycle if it's got any small loads. Over sensitive balance control!

E.g. a pair of jeans on their own will cause it to skip the spin completely!!!
