I can guarantee you that at 4, I had not heard "vagina", but I heard "Aunt Jemima" before I heard "vagina" and no one in my group of kids below the "age of discovery" at about 10 mentioned "vagina" during play.

I happened to catch the end of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang a couple of days ago and the little girl was named "Jemima."

Spurred into action by Hans's comment in Reply #11, I've been looking for a copycat recipe for vintage Aunt Jemima mix made with four flours; but so far the only multiple-flour recipe found is made with wheat and corn flour.

Several copycats for Aunt Jemima Pancake Mix call for a dry mix comprised of self-rising flour, Bisquick, sugar, and powdered non-dairy coffee creamer.   To make the batter, an egg, 8 ozs. of 7-up and 1-3/4 cups of the dry mix are stirred together.

The search continues...

Hans- Thanks! I’d love to have a copy of that recipe.

Bill- Funny you should mention mixing a multigrain mix with some regular pancake mix; I decided that would be my backup plan if a copycat recipe for vintage Aunt Jemima didn’t appear.

Hi Robin,

Sorry, I can't tell you anything about the stove/griddle.
But, I think it's very cool, and I hope you'll post what you learn about it!
It's nice to see the old Aunt Jemima too! I had forgotten what she looked like.
