Yes, at any rate, what was her motive?

Going to her profile, I saw little there that anything here would make its way to, if that one post of hers has gotten a few days old & we hadn’t heard from her...

Nor had I read anything about what we do and discuss here, except for still taking its time getting there...

I just heard from her via email — she says she’s going to be on the West Coast in April/May and would love to meet me. Asking if there are any wash-ins out this way. I said I’d be happy to put one together, but since my collection is pitiful compared to what I used to have, doubt if anyone would show up (unlimited wine and beer might get someone to show!).

We’ll see what happens. I don’t think she realizes I live in a rural but beautiful part of Northern California that’s a two hour drive from San Francisco and Sacramento...

Stay tuned!

Wash In

That unlimited beer and wine should go over big with this crowd so be prepared for a mob.I have been to a few aw.hoard events and each time the alcohol flowed freely.I personally have not had a drop of alcohol in my lifetime.(Why its the devils water!)If I want to get high I will go see the Beach Boys play.

Last Minute Wash-In?

So this British journalist, Sally Howard, is out here on the West Coast and wants to see my collection and is hoping for a wash-in. Unfortunately, with last-minute notice, my schedule will only allow for something this upcoming weekend as I am out of town the April weekends after.

My laundry area is a bit rough, although most machines are hooked up, cold water only. As most of you know, my collection isn’t the best:

1974 Wards Signature washer
1976 Whirlpool washer & dryer
1970ish Maytag washer & dryer
1980ish Wards “Time Savers” washer
1980ish Amana washer & dryer
1980ish Wards compact washer & dryer
1974 Kenmore washer
1985 Lady Kenmore washer & dryer (daily drivers in the house laundry room)
1974 Lady Kenmore washer & dryer (not hooked up)
1974ish Maytag washer & dryer (not hooked up)
1954 Frigidaire washer (non-operational)
1980ish TOL Maytag washer (belt fell off — needs installation)
1985 Whirlpool washer & dryer (not hooked up)
1978-80ish GE washer & dryer (not hooked up)

Of course, if anyone is willing to come, there will be fun, food and drink, and overnight accommodations if needed as space allows. If any takers, please let me know. I’m in Kelseyville, Lake County, CA.

Cheers!

I wrote her and she replied, and I replied with my story but never heard back. Perhaps because I am east coast.

She Still Wants to Meet Up for a Story

So I’ve been emailing this journalist back and forth and she is planning a trip to Wine Country and wants to do an interview. Too bad the last-minute Wash-In didn't work out, but rest assured I hope to host one next year with much advance notice! Although my collection is less-than-stellar, am hoping to entice you all here with offerings of wine, beer, food and lots of laundry!

So I had the loveliest conversation with Sally Howard tonight! She is very interested in publishing a piece on our “culture.” We chatted for about a 1/2 hour about how and why we like washing machines, and I shared a lot about how wonderfully helpful, entertaining and supportive this group is. She said she hopes to do it as a radio and newspaper piece so if anything comes of it, I will be sure to share.
