Hi all..realize that this has been recently brought up, but I did not see anyone mention a brand of detergent that is best for glass and crystal. I have some antique plates, glasses that I do not want to have etched...any suggestions on the detergent?

I'm normally the last person to suggest that anyone not put something in the dishwasher---I'd put the Holy Grail in the dishwasher, myself----but if they are antiques, you might consider doing them.....(shudder)....by hand.

However, if you, like me, hate doing dishes by hand, I'd suggest using Cascade Pure Rinse formula, which has additives to retard etching. Use the shortest cycle available and don't choose any high water temp. options. There is also a liquid rinse agent (probably Cascade brand) which claims to retard etching. Use that, as well.

I've had good results

with Cascade Pure rinse powder, I would avoid the Pure Rinse gel, because it's an old chlorine formula.

If you want a gel, use the Cascade Complete gel, it's the only one with enzymes.
