Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I think this just opened the door to a new view how a washer should be made!

Whirlpool are you listing?
Bring back the belt drive machine with chrome and lights with higher spin speeds.

Frigidaire are you reading this?
Get rid of those I wish I can turn a loadover with a indexing tub when a 1-18 would get the job done in a jiffy!

Ge: only the devil would keep the plastic when the Filter-Flo gave the other MFG's a run for their money when it came to lint removal!

Speed Queen: only you knew how to save water with your solid tub design!

Come on boys and girls, you know what we want and by-golly those big boys are going to listen!

Thanks Guys, but unfortunately that board is only for:

"The Discussion you selected, and most Q&A Discussions with our experts, are available only to ConsumerReports.org subscribers."

sorry for repeating the link

Hi everyone,

For more info on Speed Queen Washers you may want to try the web site: www.automaticwasher.org and their "Discuss-O-Mat" forum. Several responders there say the agitator has the same gentle stroke as the old vintage Maytags. I really don't want an agitator that will destroy my clothes. I just need a washer that will gently wash my clothes, and I don't need 3,000 cycles! You can go to the Speed Queen web site: www.speedqueen.com and enter your zip code for dealers nearest you. I got very upset with a new Kenmore I had in mind when I realized it had "triple action" agitator: back/forth, auger, then up/down. Sorry, but the last agitator I had like this almost destroyed my clothes--even on gentle.
And I will not buy a front-loader (even though they're suppose to be gentler on clothes) because of all the horror stories I've read about repairs--even on the new top-rated Consumer Report models. And yes--it's time that CR rates
Speed Queen.

Maybe I'll just start wearing togas!

CR online is a crock ....

CR on-line isn't worth the money, IMHO. I subscribed for a couple years. The discussion forums are kind of interesting, but limited. Their so-called moderators or discussion leaders rarely participate. Beware also that their subscription process apparently *requires* your ccard info be entered and retained for auto-renewal. I couldn't find a way to opt-out of the auto-renewal. My subscription was expiring in a couple weeks, so I went in and removed my (expired) credit card information, thinking that'd set my acct so that I could renew it manually, and NO ... the remaining time on my subscription terminated and ACCESS DENIED.
