Good Evening All:

About sometime ago, I have posted something here at "automaticwasher.org" in reference to selecting a front loading washer for my upstairs apartment/condominium, and I believe that a few people have responded to my question.

Since then, I have done some research on some of the front loading washers that I was interested in (namely, hooking it up, installing it and connecting it to a power source, as well as noise and vibration issues), and that I have recalled saying that I do not want a top loader.

Well now, maybe I have a change of heart. And I have put the "Avanti" W798SS as one of the models I should consider (well.... actually, it the ONLY model I am considering). I consider offerings from GE, Whirlpool and Sears Kenmore not exactly to my liking.

Now, what I want to know is does anyone have any experience with this brand as far as performance and reliability are concerned??? Has anyone EVEN heard of this washer before. It's about 24" wide, has a windowed lid and electronic controls. It seems to operate somewhat like a Whirlpool Cabrio/Maytag Bravo/Kenmore Elite Oasis in that it does not have an agitator inside the tub, but relies on a "pulsating" wash plate to supply the cleaning action. It seems to hold a lot of clothes for it to be a compact top loading washer and seems to have a quiet and efficient spin cycle.

If I cannot get a front loader, then this is the one I would like to end up with (that is, if I can see if it can be serviced in my area) since this is the one that seems to have everything that I want on it.

Has anyone heard of this washer????

I eagerly await any responses I may have coming my way.

Thanks in advance for any answers or insight you may have and care to give to me.

Cheers......

Yep....

Similar to the ones sold here through KMart. Regularly available for about AUD$350-400 (USD$245-280)

If you look at the machine in the 'owners' manual on the link you provided and then look a the LHS of the machine on the ebay link I have provided, they look very similar.

I personally am not a fan of impeller machines...but there will be others that are.

It is my experience with these machines that they tend to tangle clothes, be very very rough and cause things to fray very quickly. These machines do NOT operate like the Whirlpool Cabrio, Kenmore Oasis, Maytag Bravos machines. The impeller in those machines moves at nearly the normal pace of a wide arc agitator. (nice and slow) These Avanti (and many other apartment size topload impeller washers) wash very differently. Instead their impeller move at about if not the same speed as the machine spins, often 700-800 RPM in my experience and looks much like a toilet flushing while operating. I would not recommend getting one of these machines! Go with the front loader!!!
